Media outlets tend to make it sound as if all our economic problems are temporary problems, related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In fact, world crude oil production has been falling behind needed levels since 2019. This problem, by itself, encourages the world economy to contract in unexpected ways, including in the form of economic lockdowns and aggression between countries. This crude oil shortfall seems likely to become greater in the years ahead, pushing the world economy toward conflict and the elimination of inefficient players.
To me, crude oil production is of particular importance because this form of oil is especially useful. With refining, it can operate tractors used to cultivate crops, and it can operate trucks to bring food to stores to sell. With refining, it can be used to make jet fuel. It can also be refined to make fuel for earth moving equipment used in road building. In recent years, it has become common to publish “all liquids” amounts, which include liquid fuels such as ethanol and natural gas liquids. These fuels have uses when energy density is not important, but they do not operate the heavy machinery needed to maintain today’s economy.
In this post, I provide an overview of the crude oil situation as I see it. In my analysis, I utilize crude oil production data by the US Energy Information Agency (EIA) that has only recently become available for the full year of 2021. In some exhibits, I also make estimates for the first quarter of 2022 based on preliminary information for this period.
[1] World crude oil production grew marginally in 2021.

Crude oil production for the year 2021 was a disappointment for those hoping that production would rapidly bounce back to at least the 2019 level. World crude oil production increased by 1.4% in 2021, to 77.0 million barrels per day, after a decrease of -7.5% in 2020. If we look back, we can see that the highest year of crude oil production was in 2018, not 2019. Oil production in 2021 was still 5.9 million barrels per day below the 2018 level.
With respect to the overall increase in crude oil production of 1.4% in 2021, OPEC helped bring this average up with an increase of 3.0% in 2021. Russia also helped, with an increase of 2.5%. The United States helped pull the world crude increase down, with a decrease in production of -1.1% in 2021. In Section [5], more information will be provided with respect to crude production for these groupings.
[2] The growth in world crude oil production shows an amazingly steady relationship to the growth in world population since 1991. The major exception is the decrease in consumption that took place in 2020, with the lockdowns that changed consumption patterns.

Figure 2 indicates that, up through 2018, each person in the world consumed an average of around 4.0 barrels of crude oil. This equates to 168 US gallons or 636 liters of crude per year. Much of this crude is used by businesses and governments to produce the basic goods we expect from our economy, including food and roads.
A big downshift occurred in 2020 with the COVID lockdowns. Many people began working from home; international travel was scaled back. The reduction of these uses of oil helped bring down total world usage. Changes such as these explain the big dip in crude oil production (and consumption) in 2020, which continued into 2021.
Even in 2019, the world economy was starting to scale back. Beginning in early 2018, China banned the importation of many types of materials for recycling, and other countries soon followed suit. As a result, less oil was used for transporting materials across the ocean for recycling. (Subsidies for recycling were helping to pay for this oil.) Loss of recycling and other cutbacks (especially in China and India) led to fewer people in these countries being able to afford automobiles and smartphones. Lower production of these devices contributed to the lower use of crude oil.
On Figure 2, there is a slight year-to-year variation in crude oil per capita. The single highest year over the time period shown is 2005, with 2004 not far behind. This was about the time many people think that conventional oil production “peaked,” reducing the availability of inexpensive-to-produce oil.
[3] Crude oil prices dropped dramatically when economies were shut in, beginning in March 2020. Prices began spiking the summer and fall of 2021, as the world economy attempted to open up. This pattern suggests that the real problem is tight crude oil supply when the economy is not artificially constrained by COVID restrictions.

An analysis of price trends suggests that most of the recent spike in crude prices is due to the tightness of the crude oil supply, rather than the Ukraine conflict. The Brent oil price dropped to an average of $14.24 in the week ending April 24, 2020, not long after COVID restrictions were enacted. When the economy started to reopen, in the week ending July 2, 2021, the average price rose to $76.26. By the week ending January 28, 2022, the average price had risen to $90.22.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The Brent spot price on February 23, 2022, was $99.29. Brent prices briefly spiked higher, with weekly average prices rising as high as $123.60, for the week ending March 25, 2022. The current Brent oil price is about $107. If we compare the current price to the price the day before the invasion began, the price is only $8 higher. Even compared to the January 28 weekly average of $90.22, the current price is $17 higher.
Saying that the Ukraine invasion is causing the current high price is mostly a convenient excuse, suggesting that the high prices will suddenly disappear if this conflict disappears. The sad truth is that depletion is causing the cost of extraction to rise. Governments of oil exporting countries also need high prices to enable high taxes on exported oil. We are increasingly experiencing a conflict between the prices that the customers can afford and the prices that those doing the extraction require. In my view, most oil exporting countries need a price in excess of $120 per barrel to meet all of their needs, including reinvestment and taxes. Consumers would prefer oil prices under $50 per barrel to keep the price of food and transportation low.
[4] Food prices tend to rise when oil prices are high because products made from crude oil are used in the production and transport of food.
History shows that bad things tend to happen when food prices are very high, including riots by unhappy citizens. This is a major reason that high oil prices tend to lead to conflict.

[5] Quarterly crude oil data suggests that few opportunities exist to raise crude oil production to the level needed for the world economy to operate at the level it operated at in 2018 or 2019.
Figure 5 shows quarterly world crude oil production broken down into four groupings: OPEC, US, Russia, and “All Other.”

Figure 5 shows four very different patterns of past growth in crude oil supply. The All Other grouping is generally trending a bit downward in terms of quantity supplied. If world per capita crude oil production is to stay at least level, the total production of the other three groupings (OPEC, US, and Russia) needs to be rising to offset this decline. In fact, it needs to rise enough that overall crude production growth keeps up with population growth.
Russian Crude Oil Production
The data underlying Figure 5 shows that up until the COVID restrictions, Russia’s crude oil production was increasing by 1.4% per year between early 2005 and early 2020. During the same period, world population was increasing by about 1.2%. Thus, Russia’s oil production has been part of what has helped keep world crude production about level, on a per capita basis. Also, Russia seems to have made up most of its temporary decrease in production related to COVID restrictions by the first quarter of 2022.
US Crude Oil Production
Growth in US crude oil production has been more of a “feast or famine” situation. This can be seen both in Figure 5 above and in Figure 6 below.

US crude oil production spurted up rapidly in the 2011 to 2014 period, when oil prices were high (Figure 3). When oil prices fell in late 2014, US crude production fell for about two years. US oil production began to rise again in late 2016, as oil prices rose again. By early 2019 (when oil prices were again lower), US crude oil growth began to slow down.
In early 2020, COVID lockdowns brought a 15% drop in crude oil production (considering quarterly production), most of which has not been made up. In fact, growth after the lockdowns has been slow, similar to the level of growth during the “growth slowdown” circled in Figure 6. We hear reports that the sweet spots in shale formations have largely been drilled. This leaves mostly high-cost areas left to drill. Also, investors would like better financial discipline. Ramping up greatly, and then cutting back, is no way to operate a successful company.
Thus, while growth in US crude oil production greatly supported world growth in crude oil production in the 2009 to 2018 period, it is impossible to see this pattern continuing. Getting crude oil production back up to the level of 12 million barrels a day where it was before the COVID restrictions would be extremely difficult. Further production growth, to support the growing needs of an expanding world population, is likely impossible.
OPEC Crude Oil Production
Figure 7 shows EIA crude oil production estimates for the total group of countries that are now members of OPEC. It also shows crude oil production excluding the two countries which have recently been subject to sanctions: Iran and Venezuela.

If Iran and Venezuela are removed, OPEC’s long-term production is surprisingly “flat.” The “peak” period of production is the fourth quarter of 2018. The fourth quarter of 2018 was the time when the OPEC countries were producing as much oil as they could, to get their production quotas as high as possible after the planned cutbacks that took effect at the beginning of 2019.
Strangely, EIA data indicates that production didn’t fall very much for this group of countries (OPEC excluding Iran and Venezuela), starting in early 2019. The 2019 cutback seems mostly to have affected the production of Iran and Venezuela. It was only later, in the first three quarters of 2020, when COVID restrictions were affecting worldwide production, that crude oil production for OPEC excluding Iran and Venezuela fell by 4 million barrels per day. Production for this group then began to rise, leaving a shortfall of about 900,000 barrels a day, relative to where it had been before the 2020 lockdowns.
It seems to me that, at most, production for the group of OPEC countries excluding Iran and Venezuela can be ramped up by 900,000 barrels a day, and even this is “iffy.” Iraq is reported to be having difficulty with its production; it needs more investment, or its production will fall. Nigeria is past peak, and it is also having difficulty with its production. The high reported crude oil reserves are meaningless; the question is, “How much can these countries produce when it is required?” It doesn’t look like production can be ramped up very much. Furthermore, we cannot count on continued long-term growth in production from these countries, such as would be needed to keep pace with rising world population.

Figure 8 suggests that, indeed, Iran might be able to raise its production by perhaps 1.0 million barrels a day when sanctions are lifted.
Venezuela looks like a country whose crude oil production was already declining before sanctions were imposed. The cost of production there was likely far higher than the world oil price. Also, Venezuela has oil debts to China that it needs to repay. At most, we might expect that Venezuela’s production could be raised by 300,000 barrels per day in the absence of sanctions.
Putting the three estimates of amounts that crude oil production can perhaps be raised together, we have:
- OPEC ex Iran and Venezuela: 900,000 bpd
- Iran: 1,000,000 bpd
- Venezuela: 300,000 bpd
- Total: 2.2 million bpd
The shortfall of crude oil production in 2021, relative to 2018 production, was 5.9 million bpd, as mentioned in Section [1]. The 2.2 million barrels per day possibly available from this analysis gets us nowhere near the 2018 level. Furthermore, we have nowhere to go to obtain the rising crude oil production required to support the rising population with enough crude oil to supply food and industrial goods at today’s consumption level.
[6] Eliminating, or even reducing, Russia’s crude oil production is certain to have an adverse impact on the world economy.
Figure 9 shows the step-down in crude oil production that occurred in early 2020 and indicates that the world’s oil supply is having difficulty getting back up to pre-COVID levels. If Russia’s crude oil production were to be eliminated, it would make for another step-down of comparable magnitude. Major segments of the economy would likely need to be eliminated.

[7] When there isn’t enough crude oil to go around, the naive belief is that oil prices will rise and either more oil will be found, or substitutes will take its place. In fact, the result may be conflict and elimination of segments of the economy.
Our self-organizing economy will tend to adapt in its own way to inadequate crude oil supplies. Eventually, the economy may collapse completely, but before that happens, changes are likely to happen to try to preserve the “better functioning” parts of the economy. In this way, perhaps parts of the world economy can continue to function for a while longer while getting rid of less productive parts of the economy.
The following is a partial list of ways the economy might adapt:
- Fighting may take place over the remaining crude oil supplies. This may be the underlying reason for the conflict between NATO and Russia, with respect to Ukraine.
- COVID lockdowns indirectly reduce demand for crude oil. A person might wonder whether the current COVID lockdowns in China are partly aimed at preventing oil and other commodity prices from rising to absurd levels.
- Some organizations may disappear from the world economy because of inadequate funding or lack of profitability.
- Additional supply lines are likely to break, allowing fewer types of goods and services to be made.
- The world economy may subdivide into multiple pieces, with each piece able to make a much more limited array of goods and services than is provided today. A shift toward the use of other currencies instead of the US dollar may be part of this shift.
- World population may shrink for multiple reasons, including poor nutrition and epidemics.
- The poor, the elderly and the disabled may be increasingly cut off from government programs, as total goods and services (including total food supplies) fall too low.
- Europe could be cut off from Russian fossil fuel exports, leaving relatively more for the rest of the world.
[8] Countries that are major importers of crude oil and crude oil products would seem to be at significant risk of reduced supply if there is not enough crude oil to go around.
Figure 10 shows a rough estimate of the ratio of crude oil produced to crude oil products consumed in 2019, the last full year before the pandemic. On an “All Liquids” basis, the US ratio of crude oil production to consumption would appear higher than shown on Figure 10 because of its unusually high share of natural gas liquids, ethanol, and “refinery gain” in its liquids production. If these types of production are omitted, the US still seems to have a deficit in producing the crude oil it consumes.

Perhaps all that is needed is the general idea. If inadequate crude oil is available, all of the countries at the left of Figure 10 are quite vulnerable because they are very dependent on imports. Russia and the Middle East are prime targets for countries that are desperate for crude oil.
[9] Conclusion: We are likely entering a period of conflict and confusion because of the way the world’s self-organizing economy behaves when there is an inadequate supply of crude oil.
The issue of how important crude oil is to the world economy has been left out of most textbooks for years. Instead, we were taught creative myths covering several topics:
- Huge amounts of fossil fuels will be available in the future
- Climate change is our worst problem
- Wind and solar will save us
- A fast transition to an all-electric economy is possible
- Electric cars are the future
- The economy will grow forever
Now we are running into a serious shortfall of crude oil. We can expect a new set of problems, including far more conflict. Wars are likely. Debt defaults are likely. Political parties will take increasingly divergent positions on how to work around current problems. News media will increasingly tell the narrative that their owners and advertisers want told, with little regard for the real situation.
About all we can do is enjoy each day we have and try not to be disturbed by the increasing conflict around us. It becomes clear that many of us will not live as long or well as we previously expected, regardless of savings or supposed government programs. There is no real way to fix this issue, except perhaps to make religion and the possibility of life after death more of a focus.

(against Mr. fixit; deleveraging the positive self)
(To whom it may concern)
The tragedy of mankind is that even highly intelligent people like yourself can’t seem to understand the Basic Universal Principle: there’s no positive(good;pleasure) without negative(evil;pain).
I’m quite convinced you can easily accept that the atom is formed by both positive and negative particles (among other), and you can also readily entertain the prospect that messing around with the bond between them is not usually a neatly sound idea.
Nevertheless, you wake up every single day with the fierce determination to separate your negative self from your positive self.
How do you cope with that?
By projecting the negative onto the other, then proceeding to destroy the other and voilà: negative’s gone. Next, with the negative irreparably enmeshed within the self, you will keep on projecting, and off you go, into the never-ending quest for the negative other.
(‘I get “all” the “main” things “right”. Why can’t everybody trip like I do? Why can’t you be like me?’)
(Tip of the hat to Richard Patrick, Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland)
And then there are some, even clever than you are, who deftly use this generalized blindness (meaning, they are using you) to serve their own knavish intents.
All in all, it’s not a big deal: we all live in The Unavoidable; some will be willing and sometimes, able to slow down The Dualistic Engine, some can only crank it up.
There’s no universal peace of mind; only
The Everlasting Dissatisfaction.
(I got it “wrong”, of course; otherwise, how could you have it “right”?)
Can you answer the following:
– What are we building civilization (culture, knowledge, technology, science) for?
Do you have an answer? And if you do, what place does it have for “free will”?
I can answer it for you:
– We build civilization for the greater comfort of the flesh. There you have it: body over mind – that’s “free will” for you.
Civilization: the triumph of the Flesh.
(This is not against or for civilization, just a simple reminder to not bother to chastise everyone else with any “good & evil” puffery, “priestly” flackery.)
Tom over at Montalk has an interesting one for us here.

This is a strange article that talks about ancient mariners seeming to have the ability to build things with stones that were far more advanced than would be expected. It goes on with some somewhat plausible explanations for the Arc of the Covenant, if you can accept the possibility of some meetups with aliens or with people from another dimension with far more advanced knowledge than we have.

Exactly. This summer I will focus on creating more gold from rock.
I don’t have any recent very diesel numbers to put in.
There are some available through 2020. This is a link to one chart I mentioned earlier, showing that higher oil prices seem to lead to a higher fraction of oil production as diesel.

It’s just too awful.
My wife & I both had distant upbringings from remote parents, and all four parents were dead while we were still quite young.
The point of mentioning this is neither of us have any idea what’s it’s like to lose a relative that you’re close to. My prayers are with you & anyone to whom this ghastly nightmare is their reality.
Our children thankfully are red pilled. But half our siblings are in the mass despite my best efforts.
They all know I was pretty senior in a big pharma & then successful as a biotech CEO.
Yet they discount everything I say as if I’m guessing & know nothing of the field.
I have no explanation for this. Nothing comes faintly close to anything I’ve ever heard of.

They do seem to be under some kind of hypnosis: people don’t argue with me when I cite the anti-vaxx authority of my friend the Prof of Medicine (and immunology specialist) here, but their eyes look rather odd – I can see they can’t take in any new information, even in the watered-down, deliberately kind, form I choose for imparting it.
This completely absolves one of any agonies of conscience over whether to speak out or not: words are useless, as they mostly won’t listen, or if they listen, won’t change one bit.

Not sure what one has to do with the other…. perhaps he does not want to go there because that is a very dark place ….
But following this https://www.headsupster.com/forumthread?shortId=1623 and this https://www.headsupster.com/forumthread?shortId=1621…. how can one not go there?
Maybe there is some other reason why he doesn’t go there?

Well, it IS a very dark place, and few of us are comfortable in even entertaining such grim thoughts.
He’s also clearly over-tired and maybe unwell after two years of fighting, and perhaps he senses that to acknowledge the energy situation as the real reason for the genocide would be a step into the void for him.
I need to take into account that very few people are total misanthropes … and don’t take delight from our predicament …

This a must read https://boriquagato.substack.com/p/leaky-vaccines-super-spreads-and?s=w
Vaccines seem to make the vaccinated into super-spreaders.
the good news is that harming the host is maladaptive. it’s like burning down your own house and your car with it. you soon have nowhere to live and no way to move around easily. so the selection process drives viruses AWAY from being deadly. ebola is a fearsome virus, but poorly evolved. it kills too quickly and spreads too slowly. that’s why outbreaks are small, rare, and (relatively) easy to manage.
people who feel sick stay home, they stop mingling and carrying the virus to where others are. it’s a built in societal and species level trait to mitigate pandemic.
but what if you could break that trait?
what if you could prevent a carrier from realizing it was infected?
well, then you’d spread virus far more effectively, wouldn’t you?
you could do A LOT of damage and the natural brake on the spread, harm, and lethality of a viral evolutionary vector would be removed. you’d supercharge a pandemic.

dunc… guest appearance here? come on dunc
Just a quick post to show another method of how to increase vaccine efficacy. This time looking at data from Switzerland and Liechtenstein (S&L).
By mid December 2021, S&L were at the peak of their third wave. It was ok though because 67% of the country had been fully vaccinated, 17% with a booster. 32% of selfish people had still not been vaccinated however.
As the vaccines stop people from going to hospital this would show up in the stats.
Yes, as predicted, there was a slight increase in hospitalisations for fully vaccinated citizens (Moderna – red line, Pfizer – light blue line) but a massive spike in hospitalisations for those pesky unvaccinated (dark blue line).
Job done, vaccine efficacy proven.
But hold on a second, there is another category. “Vaccine unknown, fully vaccinated”. Let’s add this to the graph.
They don’t really want you to see this line so have made it a faint grey colour. However much they would like to pretend it wasn’t there, it is. And it shows a lot of fully vaccinated people going to hospital, and continuing to go to hospital, until March 2022, well after the peak for unvaccinated individuals.
Lot’s of fully vaccinated people going into hospital who have forgotten which vaccines they had. Did they forget or were they too ill? Is this an admin issue or are these people who had a combination of vaccines and so couldn’t be put in one category?
Either way, this grey lined category shifts a lot of people out of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccinated categories. It makes vaccine efficacy look much better than it actually is by saying only this many Pfizer or Moderna vaccinees were hospitalised.
Another great example of how to lie with statistics.

Gail, there is a blog called “megacancer” written by “James” who also refers to people and creatures as dissipative structures, as far back as several years years ago. It’s unusual, but sensible, terminology – is there some specific community or writing where this originated?
I don’t know the full history of this thinking…..but one man who definitely wrote about the human dissipative/MPP was Jay Hanson (RIP)….he died in a diving accident a number of years ago….
http://www.dieoff.com seems to still be online and has some of his ideas…..
His writings used to be at dieoff.org….but not anymore….
Does anyone else know where Jays’ writings are archived?
Looks like everything is on dieoff.com…..click on the menu tab…top right of screen…
Here’s an article from 1999…..”Energetic Limits to Growth”
https://dieoff.com/page175.htm
Thanks for the link, it’s interesting to read this stuff from people who seem to have called it right many years ago. The dates are a bit off (technology improves), but the big picture seems to be playing out as predicted.
One of the biggest factors in delaying the inevitable has been the actions of central bankers…no one foresaw…or could have foreseen the lengths they would go to…. nearly 20 years after peak conventional crude…US markets only a few percent off ATHs….housing at insane prices….real yields deeply negative….
PS – this one is really concerning, if correct. His second to last post pegs 2020 as the peak in energy.
https://dieoff.com/page138.htm
The whole study of dissipative structures is relatively new. It is not generally taught in physics courses yet.
I think I first learned about the economy as a dissipative structure from correspondence with Francois Roddier, the French astrophysicist. He wrote the book THERMODYNAMIQUE DE L’EVOLUTION: Un essai de thermo-bio-sociologie (French Edition)” in 2012. It was not until 2020 that an English version (Kindle only) was published. I had seen an earlier, rough translation, which Roddier e-mailed to me.
Of course, the idea of the economy as a dissipative structure had preceded Roddier. The Japanese economy Yoshinori Shiozawa spoke about this issue in May 1996.
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/236149834_Economy_as_a_Dissipative_Structure
There is a fair amount of “competition” among theories of the economy. There are the “exergy” folks, for example, and the EROEI folks (led by Prof. Charles Hall). The whole idea of dissipative structures in some sense represented competition with these theories.
I know that Francois Roddier was looking for help getting his book translated and published in the US, long before 2020, but this didn’t happen. I referred Roddier to Charles Hall with his publishing contacts, but this would be like publishing a theory that would compete with EROEI theory. It never came to pass.

It is amazing—after all we’ve been through I still can’t believe it—how consistently, and brazenly, the Times “reports” as truth what is not true, and with such smug conviction, as if it always were correcting what it calls “fake news,” instead of spreading it like poison gas. Those “journalists” who churn out such poisonous crapola (and not just for the Times) are perfectly equipped for it, not so much by a psychopathic aptitude for lying (though there is that among them), as by the functionary’s readiness to think what s/he’s been told to think (and what assures him/her a salary and prestige); and that flexibility has been enhanced by their indoctrination with “woke” ideology in high school, college and j-school, leaving them less interested in the craft of journalism, and in using it to seek, and tell, what we might call “the truth,” than in hammering the gongs of “social justice.”
And while such “journalists” have by-lines in the New York Times, which pays them well to re-affirm the Big Lies propagated through “our free press” overall, real journalists are mostly here on Substack, most barely scraping by, their work known only to a relatively few discerning readers. This is, of course, not just a drag (to say the least) for those real journalists, but an ongoing disaster for the rest of us worldwide, as millions all throughout the West have no idea what’s really going on, because they’ve either never heard of those reporters who would tell them, or, if they have, are likely not to trust them, having been warned off them by the character assassins at the Times (and all the other “liberal media”).

Fast Eddy says — pound mike with this on a daily basis… pound him till we get a no mas…
https://media.giphy.com/media/VfA1oqvT1ZxTy/giphy.gif
Eddy—There is great satisfaction to be had through public service
while you are pounding away on OFW ,
society at large is eternally grateful that you are not (imagining) pounding away somewhere in RL
And insisting on imparting your vast knowledge of aforesaid life and living
The point that FE keeps pounding home is a simple one which you seem to fail to acknowledge, probably because you failed it.
Getting the co vid vax was an intelligence test.
Gail passed it, along with JHK, JMG, Chris Martenson and what appears to be the majority of the major commenters on this blog. Honestly it really surprised me Norm that you were taken in by the lies and blatant abuse of scientific discourse and study. Given how deeply and accurately you think about resource constraints.
I guess for those that literally put the lies into their bodies, the loss of face is just too much for most of them to acknowledge that they were easily misled and have more than likely reduced their lifespan significantly.
So many friendships will never recover from the co vid vax divide. So much can never be talked about even when it is evident that they are extremely affected by the virus and the vax did nothing to spare them. They can’t even say that it would have been worse without the vax because they know that (in my case for example) my unvax xed family coasted through it while they describe it as once of the worst illnesses they have ever experienced. To quote one friend “it hurts like a MF” and they rarely swear. The problem now is that there is just a complete loss of respect for people that I (we) once had respect for.
The desire to say “i told you” so is very strong but that would completely destroy what remains of the connection.
This is collapse up close and personal. It is impossible to ignore. It is why I think so many commenters here express views that they now see you as less of spring of wisdom than you once were. A true pity.
It is easy to forget that Norm is older than most of the rest of us. The older a person is, the less the downside of taking the mRNA vaccines. As long as an older person makes it through the vaccine itself, the vaccine can reduce the severity of symptoms (but, so can raising vitamin D level, with favorable instead of negative side-effects). And, as you note, it does make it easier to get along with vaxxed friends. If you don’t have long left, perhaps this weighs heavily in the decision-making.
Another antiquarian posting here concludes that there has never been a remotely similar crock of crap thrown at the human race to “covid.” To believe sufficiently in even the first premise of “covid” to get vaxxed is very strange anomaly in a thinking person. Owing to the hideous “covid”- led dysfunction of the medical system, this antiquarian’s life is far closer to over than would normally be the case. And that has nothing to do with a virus.
Edwin has written that we will all be dead soon anyway…more than once here…what’s the big deal about getting vaxced?
Back to the medieval ages for us all that survive and that’s not a pleasant existence at all…may be worse on the downslope.
I’m vaxed with Pfizer ..two jabs…no problems at all so far…lucky me and I do trott at least 4 to 5 times a week…6-9 miles…at age 64
Not that getting boostered…think it’s all been overblown..money making ploy and like Gail pointed out ..an excuse for bad things…
From surveys and anecdotally, elderly demonstrably suffer fewer obvious side-effects, too – not even sore arms in many cases. Side-effects mostly it the young and healthy it seems.
The weakest, of course, died in the first round of miracle injections.
What is unfortunate is that if they had had the brains to decline the experimental shots in the first place, this whole preposterous fraud would have collapsed. A great missed opportunity.
And it is shameful that they are not, even now, speaking up for the children.
A ‘Don’t Vaxx the Kids for Us!’ campaign would have been very effective indeed.
well—checking through friends and relatives of all ages (I have 17 direct living descendants, from 60 something to 1 something) I have yet to receive confirmation of anything other than a sore arm

still less the millions of dead and maimed, as stated on OFW during 2021.
or sterilised women of childbearing age
or aborted pregnancies
i was told last year on OFW that doctors were going to ‘force’ my g grandkids to submit to vaxxing—this was unquestionable truth, and i should be ‘warning’ them about it.
and that from the ‘sources of truth’ that feed me with the rest of it.
any medical intervention carries risk—i’ve always said that
Poor old Norman, haven’t you observed they have long ago started on the small children, and are now clearly aiming at babies, who are at no risk at all from Covid?
Have you not noticed that the UK govt. is actively suppressing data on child deaths post-vaccination?
Now, why would they do that if all is well and above board?
Xabier, it was you who solemnly assured me that crazy docs were going to come round and forcibly vax my g grandkids, and i should be out there warning their parents of the imminent danger.
I can guarantee – norm will not address this question
You have friends? Oh yes the ladies in water aerobics…
So all the injuries and deaths are fake – right?
Yep if I was in norm’s shoes I’d sky dive and see how close I could get to the ground before pulling the cord… I’d sniff as much coke as I could tolerate – to see what happens…
At a certain point … there’s pretty much nothing to lose.
norm – go for the world record covid injections in a day… you could be in the Guinness book!!!
We need to stop picking on Norman and Mike and show respect for our fellow commenters on OFW . Please lets show some courtesy and respect to all finite worlders if we pick on these guys it is truly hurtful lets all play nice after all we should strive to not pass judgement on peoples actions
Yes, I always have Emily’s Post book of Eddiquette on hand when composing replies…especially for Tim and Edwin
Yes! More etiquette, more delicacy, more consideration, more decorum at the forum. I’m all for it!
But you’ll notice that respect and courtesy are a two-way street. Norman and Mike are far from being the only targets of harsh words and ridicule. And they have both given out plenty of harsh words in their time.
Over the years, nobody has suffered more slings and arrows of outrageous insult than FE. On occasion, some have even questioned the extent of His Genius! If He is Monstrous, then He was made Monstrous.
One more point, as Gail has noted, Norman is older than most of the rest of us. He’s possibly the oldest man in the OFW village. I think he deserves a measure of special respect on that account alone, and an official title: The Elder of OFW.
Not true. I have rarely given out harsh words in this blog. Please point to any (they will be difficult to find). I apologise if I have insulted or ridiculed anyone here. That technique just doesn’t help the discussion.
Say anything you want mike … nobody cares
We’ll forgive you … cuz the Boosters!!! tee hee
Mike, here’s my pointing finger.
It’s pointing to this thread from last December:
https://ourfiniteworld.com/2021/12/03/is-it-possible-that-the-world-is-approaching-end-times/comment-page-4/
In it you say that medical apartheid isn’t really apartheid.
“It’s not apartheid because those people can choose to be included in those freedoms. It’s up to them. Indeed, in New Zealand, for example, more and more people are choosing to get vaccinated and join in those freedoms. With skin colour or ethnicity, there is no choice (contrary to what Fast Eddy believes).”
That sounds vary harsh to me. Harsh against vax refusnics and harsh against poor sensitive Fast Eddy. My heart bleeds at such harshness. It really does.
To your credit, you don’t ridicule other people. That’s a very commendable trait and your saving grace. You were obviously brought up in a good home!
But it doesn’t make up for being harsh.

And still … despite shoving that in mike’s face – data DIRECTLY from the NZ govt … mike insists the vax prevents death
Hahahahaha….
Notice how when Compassion no longer applied (that was an epiphany FE has after reading how King Mithridates poisoned himself, his family and entourage cuz he knew what the Romans would do to them if they were captured)… and Changed His Mind … changing Compassionate to Ultimate… UEP….
But then it wasn’t as if Fast had to admit to being a MOREON and acknowledging that shit in the syringe was a death shot … and he’s stoooopidly injected 3 doses into his unit.
Hahahahahaha… I know a woman who’s husband is a pilot and a Pro-Vaxxer (she is unvaxxed) and she told me she saw credit card payments to a company that sells stuff to Unf789 a vaxxer (snake oil of course – ain’t no unf789ing that works)….
You are wasting your $$$ mike — You Be F789ed Permanently (or at least till VAIDS kicks in)
If it makes you feel better – and it should — we all get to die under UEP… you just don’t make it to the popcorn phase.
You have the choice to inject an experiment that does not stop covid – does not stop severe illness or death from covid – that causes epic short term injuries and death….. for ‘freedom’ to go to the pie shop….
Or you can reject it and not be allowed into the pie shop.
I think this is … apartheid… it’s not really a choice… unless you are a f789ing MOREON
In the same thread, EnergyShifts.net kindly and thoughtfully explained to us just how harsh you were.
“MEDICAL apartheid is what is currently being implemented: it is the segregation of groups of people on the basis of those who accept an experimental medical intervention and those who are unwilling to accept it – this latter group is literally having their rights and freedoms taken away on the basis that they won’t comply. In other words, they don’t have equal rights anymore. That fact that you are trying to justify something so obviously a human rights abuse says a lot.
“You can jump up and down all you like an try to rationalize that ‘it’s not apartheid’. It is. There are different types of apartheid and this is medical apartheid.”
On February 2, Mike, you made an incredibly harsh comment on some prominent (unnamed) substackers.
https://ourfiniteworld.com/2022/01/18/2022-energy-limits-are-likely-to-push-the-world-economy-into-recession/comment-page-17/#comments
“Some prominent substackers have become very wealthy from paid subscribers. They would lose their subscribers if they just towed the official line. My guess is that they will always argue against the official line because that’s what their subscribers lap up and, thus, what makes them rich.”
My guess is that you are at least subliminally jealous of their fame and their income stream, Mike.
They’re smiling in your face
All the time they wanna take your place
The substackers!
I haven’t tried to make money from OFW, but I really am doubtful that people get rich from their blogs. I suppose that some sub-stackers got a brief influx of new paid subscriptions, but it is hard for a person to be an expert on all things and keep up writing enough to keep up the income. Interest will wax and wane, if nothing else.
i concur with Mike Tim
I can’t possibly remember everything i’ve written on OFW—but if you can point out a ‘harsh word’ on the level of eddy’s faux-obsc..enities and childlike innuendoes (towards me and others) i will be suitably chastened. (or any other harsh word for that matter)
I do not swear, on OFW or in RL—i like to think i can find better uses for the english language.
Though at another level, your comment reads as irony—sometimes hard to tell.
Some of my (limited) wordskill lies in planting harsh words in peoples heads, without actually saying them. that is where etiquette comes in
not difficult to make an idiot actually realise he’s an idiot, no need to say it. hits harder that way. And much more fun too.
People ridicule themselves, they need no help from me.
Which is why i no longer open clickbait links.
Like everything else that makes life worthwhile, language needs constant exercise and practice. I have no intention of slowing down or giving up—even at my age.
my undertaker has been a personal friend since schooldays—he has strict instructions to take down any final notes—unless of course he gets in the box before i do.
The thing is..
You and to a certain extent mike pontificate on OFW and ridicule ‘conspiracy theories’ that are backed by solid evidence…
But when you are asked specific questions in response to your accusations …
You refuse to respond… and you continue to ridicule.
The only logical response to your silence is to call you out … using mockery … because that is what you deserve.
About those boosters… help us understand why you keep injecting them when the CDC itself says the stuff in them is toxic and injecting it more than once maybe twice in a lifetime is the safe threshold.
Help us with that… also do you think the injections prevent death from covid?
eddy
to offer you an answer for once (pointless exercise–but i can afford a couple of minutes from my alotted span
the evidences backing conspiracy theories, are always clearly shown to be part of the conspiracy theory itself.
i have never been given a name of any ‘conspirator—always—it’s the elite—the elders—the cabal. Never told who they are.
this is why I and others dismiss it as nonsense. Response, at any level (even this breaks my own rule) merely gives you more self righteous indignation that someone questions the magnificence of your garments,
So we do not demean ourselves with attempting to respond to your tirade of abuse and misplaced innuendo. Have you noticed i have no need of that? Neither does Mike.
Do you ever stop to think why?
Or why your response rate is about 100x mine?
It amounts to no more than a child constantly throwing toys out of his pram, in order to gain the attention of adults to pick them up. One does that with the certainty that the child will grow up and stop doing it fairly soon.
In your case, that will not happen of course. I can only ignore it all, and think of those who are in proximity to your RL pram.
writers on OFW lay themsselves out like an open book.
“Some of my (limited) wordskill lies in planting harsh words in peoples heads, without actually saying them. that is where etiquette comes in”
There you have it, Norman! Harsh but polite. Non-verbal acerbity. Reticent barbarity. We’ve all been wounded by your malicious silences and traumatized by your taciturnity. You should see my shrink bill!
nice turn in descriptive prose Tim
i shall shamelessly plagiarise some of them
Tim,
Fair enough, Tim. I don’t agree that it is harsh. It’s not clear whether you were being sarcastic about that perceived harshness but nothing I wrote there was wrong.
Thanks for pointing out my saving grace. This would be a good place for discussion if everyone avoided the ridicule and insults. Pointing out where someone has gone wrong is much more helpful that calling someone an idiot or moron.
We are dealing with a whole integrated system, rather than what most people expect as simple “cause and effect.” Things don’t really work the way a person would expect, because of the many indirect connections that tend to bring the system down.
The “vaccines” are not really traditional vaccines. All vaccines have both negative and positive effects; the mRNA vaccines in particular seem to have more negative and less positive benefits than what most of us would expect from a vaccine.
Also, any way of stopping infections, whether bacterial or virus, has some risk of the viruses mutating away, leading to ineffective vaccines and antibiotics. The mRNA “vaccines,” in fact, seem to push the virus mutation process along, keeping the virus (in mutated form) with us indefinitely. So, even if the vaccine can be shown to help a given individual (especially over age 80), the overall societal impact is negative, especially when the vaccine is given widely, including to those who are not at risk of severe disease.
Repeated vaccination, as seems to be needed to keep the mRNA vaccines working, seems to harm the immune system. Repeated vaccination also seems to be associated with heart attacks and other heart disease. Increasing evidence (such as from from Our World in Data charts) suggests that the mRNA vaccines raise overall death rates. The adenovirus COVID vaccines, so far, do not seem to raise overall death rates but this probably needs to be looked at further. They don’t stop the spread of COVID, either.
They are not vaccines cuz vaccines are meant to stop you from getting a disease
What they are is injections that dont like the covid virus… but they are unable to eliminate the covid virus (cuz we’ve never been able to eliminate a coronavirus – never) so all they do is cause the covid virus to mutate…. and the more we inject the more mutations we get …
The mutations become more contagious and ultimately more lethal – and everyone dies.
That is why they were created in the first place.
Are you serious mike??? You want us to forget The Comment — to erase it — and start over as if you were a newbie on OFW — not gonna happen
You can try a new UN — but your pro vax position will give you away
Your life, your risk. same as getting into a car or boarding a plane. but to think you are saving others by spewing anti vax garbage is moronic
Hahahaha… of course spewing anti vax facts will not save anyone – cuz the vaxxers are pro vaxxers… they are hard core F789ing MOREONS… nothing you can show them will convince them to Stop Boosting…
And the more sick these dimwits get —(because of the vax) — the more they will boost… cuz it would have been worse without the first shots hahahaha…
I have ZERO shots — and very healthy — worse as in like me? hahahahaha
Keep Boosting you re ta r ded donkeys…. ignore the death and destruction all around you now … the injections are Safe! (and effective) hahahahahahahaha..
How about a nice kick in the teeth before I move on to my next Kill.
We are OFW do not subscribe to the notions of exceptionalism. Everyone here is equal to 0. We don’t think ourselves special (perhaps norm) only because our brains are functioning and not consumed by the fog. If you are looking for special treatment and around the clock admirations you should seek job in federal government or NGO.
You are right Geno Mir: humility is the only approach to the truth.
Propaganda and deceit often play on vanity and unjustified self-esteem.
Except for Fast Eddy… HE is an Outlier. Malcolm Gladwell should run a book about FE
Uh…let me think about that… no.
Maybe Gail and FE balance one another. Running a blog and trying to remain credible (as not being a conspiracy theorist) must be one of the harder things to do nowadays. And FE is doing an incredible amount of work to point out the fire in the theatre that some (but way too few) of us can perceive with our own senses. There is a ton of effort to be made toward evading either “apathy” or acquiescence to inevitable doom, but that middle ground is not very evident anywhere. So, hey, it won’t hurt to do the best you can. As Gail repeats, a self organizing system is largely in control, although it’s also believable that “the universe rewards effort,” and that “if you try you’ll succeed,” have relevance, self organizing system or no–you have to figure it out. Spiritual faith is a far more solid premise to go by than most believe. But it isn’t everything.
Much good sense in that, Artleads.
Religious faith and…….intuition.
I like to think of it as the ‘reasoning beyond reason’, in a sense.
Thank you for your insight on me niko–points taken.
to repeat myself, i have never said do or don’t take the vax. Though some might have taken it one way or the other due to things being taken out of context, or misinterpreted. On numerous occasions i’ve said that the vax was a knee jerk reaction by governments fearing a repeat of 1921 (50m dead out of a population of 2 bn).
There was no ‘conspiracy’.
to repeat myself again—my ridicule is reserved for those who tell me that Bill Gates has produced vaccines full of iron filings, so that my whereabouts will register on his 5g masts
Or the above is proven by ferrous objects sticking to my skin.
or that Fauci is working for the Chinese government.
Students of Dr Mengele are stalking my g/grandkids.
Or it is a plot to decimate world population. (to preserve global resources)
I could go on–ad nauseam. All the above has been put forward as ‘truth’ on OFW—There’s lots more. I’ve written it up lots of times, as you know. If you think those observations above are in fact wrong, please say so.
As to eddy imparting collective bounty from his fount of wisdom, you may have noticed that my exchanges, on any subject on OFW do not contain endless faux-expletives.
Ever.
And, when an argumentative point is clearly lost, neither do they resort to other childlike (skoolyard wall) references to matters with no place on OFW—I don’t need to go through all that again. It is at best amusing. At worst the consistency of it all reveals the character of the writer.
Which is not very pleasant to contemplate in RL. (writing on here is an open book–none of us are excluded).
At least it puts eddy top of Gail’s delete list. That alone would embarrass me into not commenting at all—it doesn’t have that effect on him. Ask yourself why. (The barstool philosopher)
If someone disagrees with me, I like to think my (limited) intellect can deal with it, without recourse to screaming abuse.
You of course may consider that ‘normal’—I do not. That is your problem, not mine.
You criticise me–i reply with courtesy. Eddy inflates his insults beyond his wind-capacity. I float them back. Re-purposed, and with greater accuracy.
Others have said the exact opposite to your comments about me. Both I daresay carry grains of truth. (Kipling’s ”If”?)
My writing here and elsewhere is set out (first and foremost) to clarify my own thinking into some kind of logical order. It can never be perfect, but I think it is at least polite and as factual as I can make it.
Thank you for the reply Norm. There is no point beating any dead horses further re vaxs but I would like to say that I still read all your comments re energy and tend to agree with most of what you think/write.
niko
Norman, your considerable courtesy and Eddie’s lack of same are in stark contrast, but ultimately they just come down to a matter of conversation style—a performance element. We shouldn’t let them detract from the substance.
We conventional old school decent cricket-playing gentlefolk are so twentieth century. We might as well have just disembarked from of the Ark. We really belong in a museum.
I have been a dissident regarding globbly wobbly since 1997, and I have been subject to attacks using weaponized language ever since that time. To listen to my critics, it isn’t merely that my opinions are nonsense; I am also deranged to be holding them. So I can imagine how Eddie’s trolling in particular might be exasperating for you.
but in general, F-bombs and other four-letter words, three-letter acronyms and questioning the intellectual capabilities and even the sanity of chaps who disagree with us have been the new normal for some time now. Like it or loathe it, it’s all part of the sport of trolling.
The rule is similar to the caution policemen used to give people they were placing under arrest back in the good old days. I would edit it to read: “You do not have to say anything, but anything you do say may be used against you again and again and again.”
effing and blinding—-as the common herd put it, are not part of conversational style—just ignorance and laziness to make up for lack of conversational style.
not being in any way superior, but i don’t know anyone who needs to use it.
all words have a time and place—and in the right place and at right time, such words fit precisely into the beauty of the English language.
That is when i use them….it is also when they are appreciated.
I resent them getting mauled by people who simply have no awareness of that, who scatter words in the hope that others are equally unaware of their meaning.
eddys verbal antics do not exasperate me; rather like a trapeze artist who never quite gets the ‘hang’ of it and keeps falling off——i feel the pain of his RL. It isnt trolling, it has the same effect as a buzzing mosquito. Trolling requires intellect to have any effect. otherwise it is just a nuisance.
yes i suppose i was brought up in an era when using bad language in earshot of a woman would get you punched by her other half. Now it is common currency by both sexes. it is very ugly
If norm (and mike) would Answer the Questions… norm would not be the butt of Fast Eddy’s jokes.
i wouldnt mind being the butt of one your jokes
just let me know when you make one
preferably in advance so i can stay awake and not miss it
butt–of course
your comment bears no relation to the one it was meant to respond to
does it ever?
this, for what its worth, is our ultimate problem

my ridicule is reserved for those who tell me that Bill Gates has produced vaccines full of iron filings
CDC says they lipid component is ‘toxic’ and should not be injected more than once/twice in a lifetime… I’m thinking hmmm… I would rather have a bit of graphite (there is no iron filings – I understand it’s graphite)… than poison….
Or better still I’d rather have neither injected into my body — particularly when I KNOW that it is NOT possible to create a safe or effective vaccine in less than a year. NOT POSSIBLE.
Yet we are still be told it’s safe (despite off the chart deaths and injuries) and effective (despite data from governments showing it is deadly)…
Anyone with half a brain would look at this picture and think hang on …. something is not right …. and stop taking the boosters… in fact quite a few people have stopped … because they are feeling they’ve been played
Many that I know are a bit pissed off with the broken promise of ‘two shots and you won’t get covid’ and are refusing to get onto what is obviously an endless cycle of shots…
Some are afraid of more shots because they know damaged and dead Pro Vaxxers.
But norm marches on like a good soldier Doing What He Is Told … never question orders Private norm… onward Brave Zombies — to the Injection Clinic… don’t mind those dead and maimed bodies in the way — it’s war – some folks are gonna die.
Did you enjoy it norm?
i was about to ask—how was it for you?
As usual, that is cherry picking data. Luckily, I do keep track of this stuff. That NZ table is not of deaths due to COVID-19, it is deaths within 28 days of testing positive. There is no data on deaths due to COVID-19 that are broken down by vaccination status. At some point in the past, the Director General of Health mentioned that about 50%-60% of cases picked up in hospital were incidental (i.e. the hospitalised people were in hospital for something else). If one factors this in, the unvaccinated people older than 11 (vaccination statuses are for those 12 and over) are between 5 and 8 times as likely to be hospitalised with COVID-19 as the boosted. In fact this is likely to be an underestimate as there is no data or estimate that breaks down incidental hospitalisation by age and older people are more likely to be hospitalised anyway.
I have pointed out flaws like this over and over but it seems to make little difference to some commenters here.
Just to clarify the above. I gave hospitalisation data, not death data because the data is just not available on deaths in NZ to be able to do this type of analysis.
In many countries, a death within several weeks of a positive test is defined by health officials as a Covid death, no matter what the real cause is.
I don’t know about other countries but NZ does report that figure to the WHO, which is wrong, in my opinion. However it does also publish figures on deaths due to COVID. Studies on excess deaths have been done which suggests a higher than reported figure for COVID deaths.
hahahaha mike… nice try… but wrong again
The problem with the MSM data is that they take the numbers from prior to the injections… as you can imagine if nobody is injected all the deaths during that period = unvaxxed.. Duh…
And the f789ing re t arded MOREONS point to that and say see – its the unvaxxed that are dying… hahahahaha
Obviously you have to restart the count from once the vaxxes are in play… but the MOREONS don’t think like that cuz they are MOREONS
The Numbers don’t lie:

I answered this but the reply either didn’t make it or was deleted for some reason.
I wasn’t wrong and nothing you’ve written here proves otherwise. If you just stop and look at the screenshot you posted, you will notice the title of the table just visible behind web archive graphic: “Age and vaccination status of deaths within 28 days of being reported as a case”. It is NOT a table of deaths due to COVID-19.
I realise that correct interpretation of data is not your strong point when that might show that you are wrong. But the facts are the facts.
Hahahha mike … remember ‘95%’ effective????
Remember if you take two shots you won’t catch Covid???
Give up mike… you lose … go get another booster
As usual, you ignore the facts and don’t even attempt to discuss them. Didn’t you once give a name to people who ignore the facts and stick with their opinion regardless?
FACT: Vaccine testing was thorough and successful. More than 70,000 people participated in clinical trials for two vaccines. To date, the vaccines are nearly 95% effective in preventing COVID-19 with no safety concerns. https://mobile.twitter.com/GaDPH/status/1342198664102617089

It’s ok mike – we understand where you are coming from — and we know that no matter what evidence we put in front of you — you will not see.
In fact when the extinction kicks off — you will be furiously dialling the Injection Clinic demanding a 7th shot… you’ll show up and be pounding on the door at 7am ‘I want my shot – I want it!!!’ and they’ll have to call the police cuz you’ve unhinged yourself….
hahahaha…

I’m doing a cross country trip across the US right now. I’ve passed through Montana, north Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and eastern Washington/Oregon. All of these are important grain producers.
I did not see a single field of healthy winter wheat, largely due to drought I think.
And if they can’t grow wheat profitably they surely cannot grow corn or soy, which both require significant water resources and fertilization. Winter wheat is very water efficient because most of the establishment and growth take place during cooler, wetter times of the year. The nation’s grain belt is fallow, folks.
Good famine approaching. I was in the post office yesterday and saw a young woman with two small children and a newborn. I thought yes eddy roasted baby will be on the menu soon.
Oooh how delightful of her to breed during these end of days… doing it for the community is she?
The Big Dog … must eat
Women leave childbearing rather late these days, and nothing on earth will stop them when they hit the desperation zone of 28-35.
A woman intent on breeding simply won’t listen to any even slightly pessimistic views regarding the near future.
in that, you are perfectly correct Xabier

It’s difficult for those with some awareness of what’s going on to think about having children. The thing is, if no-one had children, that would ensure the extinction of humans. Some here think that would be wonderful but I doubt you’d get the majority of humans to agree.
It seems difficult to see how there could be any ‘wonder’ without humans as it is clearly a subjective act that cannot exist, or have meaning, without the subject who ‘wonders’.
Very many people still do not get that no subjective state or evaluation exists or has meaning without a subject. There seems to be a common mental ‘block’ on that one.
Their brains have perhaps simply not evolved to grasp that one. It is a curious situation, and potentially very dangerous to the species these days if the fate of the species were to hinge on a philosophical misunderstanding.
Of course most would not want that – cuz they are MOREONS.
They want to continue paving over the planet and torturing animals.
They love it
I know the USDA wheat report we saw recently said the winter wheat was doing poorly. This is further confirmation of the issue.
We are eating from last years crop. Next years crop? Stock up !
I’d like to wish a nice evening to those who read this beautiful blog.
With many classical music authors I think it is possible to ‘perceive’ the different speed of Society before fossil fuels.
There were surely hectic moments, but most of the life I suppose was at a different speed than now or probably most appropriate to say: than yesterday 🙂
Because my impression is that we are just entering a new era.
I hope you like this music.
Have a nice evening.
Nice!
Ditto!
Thank you.
p.s. Artleads, I didn’t know that in English people use ‘ditto’ (which comes from Italian ‘detto’).
https://www.etymonline.com/word/ditto
In Italy we use the word ‘idem’ which come from Latin

At least something good we have done in this Peninsula,
Unfortunately most in the past 🙂
Edwin, Tim…Everyone celebrate EARTH DAY… HOW DARE YOU!
Greta has hit out at people celebrating the planet on Earth Day while simultaneously “destroying it”.
The teenage climate activist claimed the global annual event had “turned into an opportunity for people in power to post their ‘love’ for the planet, while at the same time destroying it at maximum speed”.
wrote on Twitter: “School strike week 192. This is not a “happy earth day”. It never has been.
“#EarthDay has turned into an opportunity for people in power to post their “love” for the planet, while at the same time destroying it at maximum speed. #PeopleNotProfit #FridaysForFuture #ClimateStrike.”
The 19-year-old joined youth protesters in Stockholm for a weekly school protest she started as a solitary student back in 2018 to call for urgent action to address the climate crisis.
Demonstrators gathered across other locations around the world, including Bangkok
The protests aim to amplify demands for climate action on Earth Day 2022, when people worldwide celebrate and mobilise in support of protecting the environment.
This year’s theme is “Invest in our Planet”, encouraging individuals, businesses and governments to invest in technologies and practices that can benefit the Earth.
The 2022 event comes after the release of the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports, which show the world is barrelling towards stronger, more frequent disasters fuelled by the climate crisis, with little time to reverse course.
Extinction Rebellion said their activists had carried out a blockade at a printing works for major US newspapers early on Friday.
The climate action group targeted a plant used by the New York Times and Wall Street Journal in the early hours of the morning.
She’s writing a BOOK…wonder how much fossil fuels will be used to get on the market?
Ms Thunberg is to publish a new book later this year featuring 100 leading experts and activists on climate change in a bid to present an overview of how the challenges facing the planet connect, telling “the unvarnished truth” about how and why the world is changing.
Well, Herbie, all I can say is blah, blah, blah.
Greta sees some serious problems for the world and one would suppose she has some radical solutions to get us to her goal of a net zero carbon footprint for every foot.
She’s kinda cute, though. If she ever goes to the White House, somebody better warn her about Uncle Joe.
I’d like to see her spassing out after a 4th shot of Pfizer … she’d give Linda Blair a run for her money I reckon
Poor Greta…doesn’t realize the reality of our predicament…we have NO CHOICE but to continue BAU with the human hoard marching upwards to 8 billion mouths to feed…never mind to house, feed and keep docile….;
Too bad it’s a good time to be OLD..as investor Jim Rogers likes to say, hope to miss the End of The World Party…feel like it’s coming sooner than we expect
Greta would embrace UEP.
Dr. Li-Meng Yan joins Zeee Media again today to discuss the truth about what is happening in Shanghai based on what she claims her intelligence has revealed.
https://rumble.com/v11wxk4-dr.-li-meng-yan-shanghai-orchestration-by-ccp.html?mref=6zof&mrefc=2
Dr. Li-Meng Yan says the stories we hear about the lockdown in Shanghai are true. It is similar to what happened in Wuhan. The people in Shanghai are very unhappy about the situation. A similar situation happened in Xian at the end of last year. The CCP would like to spin the story as what good control they have of the situation.
(This is just the first few minutes.)
I am not sure I trust her… I don’t trust any CCPers…
«If I am right, that the story of the Western world is one of increasing left hemisphere domination, we would not expect insight to be the key note. I think you will find this piece (first 50 p) interesting, Gail.

This was published almost a decade ago, in February 2013. It is about the left and the right hemisphere of the brain. This is a bit about the roles:
The publication starts out:
It later says:
The introduction to the publication gives some examples of practical applications to which this theory is being put to use. One I remember has to do with getting better milage from a vehicle.
This shift toward the left hemisphere of the brain could, indeed, lead to an overly optimistic view of the future.
Cruelty. We have begun to discuss that, and I will lift it into the open space. ‘Cruelty’ is essential to life, as life lives by devouring itself. Civilisation is largely the sublimation of cruelty into socially useful forms. ‘Morality’ is largely the social ordering of cruelty in socially useful ways.
Looking at this new talk from Spiked. Some blokes are being imprisoned for burning an effigy of Grenfell Tower (a tower block in London burned down in 2018 and many people died) and making racist comments in its connection. On the other hand, Guy Fawkes Night has long been institutionalised in Britain, in which effigies of Guy, a Catholic enemy of the British State, are burned. ‘Loyalists’ still have fires in NI with openly anti-Catholic statements and effigies like the pope.
The British State is big on racism in Britain because it relies very heavily on labour expansion from abroad to grow GDP, to make money, to accumulate capital and to keep the capitalist system going. But on the other hand, all Russian tennis players are to be banned from the Wimbledon competition simply because they are Russian, and they are the ‘bad guys’ because they are on the opposite geopolitical side.
So, what we have is that the state wants to control cruelty and to shape it into forms that are useful to it. ‘Morality’ is what the state calls the latest social ordering of cruelty, and whatever ‘principles’ it chooses to invoke to that end, and it is entirely about whatever suits the state in the time and place, according to its economic, political and geopolitical needs. The state asserts the prerogative to shape cruelty to pursue its own aims and it calls that ‘morality’.
I am not arguing that cruelty is ‘wrong’ or that it ‘ought not’ to be sublimated into socially useful forms. Society largely is sublimated cruelty in the entire system of socialisation and its criminal enforcement. Cruelty is just a part of how the world works and its sublimation is just a part of how societies work. It is what it is.
The new UK Online Safety Bill is entirely an attempt by the state to give shape to cruelty in ways that are useful to the state, and to use cruelty to enforce that shape through the courts. It is all about cruelty and its socially useful shapes.
Spiked are ‘free speech’ advocates, either because they see it as ‘moral truth’ (natural law) or because they think that it is the best practical course (utilitarianism); I am not sure that they have made their mind up which it is, and they may be ‘hedging their bets’ on that one.
If it is ‘natural law’ then it is entirely made up and imaginary; if it is pragmatism then that is just their calculation and the British State clearly disagrees. In either case, it is just their opinion, although the British State does like to pose as a ‘free society’, and indeed it uses such pretexts to invade other countries like Syria. It is all made up nonsense that either advances the state or it does not.
It is all will to power, and it largely relies on most humans being gullible, pliant and compliant; the ‘alternative’ would likely be just a more explicit and open cruelty, so ‘choose your poison’ carefully.
> In Britain, being offensive is an offence
The spiked team discusses the Grenfell effigy scandal.
Perhaps they should have called it “Art”.
> The Grenfell effigy and the fall of liberal Britain
…. These are just a few examples of the estimated nine people arrested in Britain each day under Section 127. That’s thousands every year.
…. This all amounts to an extensive regime of state censorship. And yet it goes on and on and on in supposedly liberal Britain. It is presented to us as benign censorship, as caring censorship, as censorship aimed at the hateful or offensive, rather than the dissident or blasphemous. But there is no simple distinction between these things. One man’s hate preacher is another man’s dissident. And while we no longer arrest those who defame Christ, we happily arrest those who ‘misgender’ trans activists. A truly liberal society would not trust the state to decide what is true or false or right or wrong in this way. But that is no longer the case here in Britain. State censorship has become a crazed form of virtue-signalling, and a symbol of our warped priorities. We prosecute a man for mocking a tragedy like Grenfell, while those responsible for helping bring that tragedy about continue to walk free.
Freedom of speech has been a hot topic in Britain of late, as it has been in many Western countries. Tory ministers like to pose as warriors for freedom and reason against creeping ‘wokery’. And yet no one is talking about rolling back our censorious laws. If anything, things are headed in the opposite direction. The Online Safety Bill, which whizzed through the House of Commons on second reading this week, will (if passed) repeal much of Section 127. But it will simply be replaced by a new ‘harmful communications offence’, criminalising those who send a message that is intended and likely to cause ‘serious distress’ – even if no one was actually harmed. Meanwhile, the bill will usher in yet more Orwellian measures, including a duty on social-media firms to curb ‘legal but harmful’ speech. The Labour Party, naturally, thinks the bill doesn’t go far enough….

Was the British state’s undeniable cruelty to the Irish and Scottish people essential to civilizing them (or at least attempting to do that) or would it have been more civilized and more moral to have left them to indulge themselves to the full in their own Celtic ways of being cruel to each other? He asks facetiously.
This is probably a better song for Saturday night than Sunday morning, so I’m sorry to be delivering it late.
Cringey, drunk posts really are a bit much to see on a Sunday morning. I am just glad that they are _nothing_ to do with me. LOL
The British state failed to develop Ireland. It culminated in the famine. It was used as a peasantry, with absent landlords based in London, who used the place to maintain their own lifestyle. Some of that sort of exploitation always goes on, but you cannot expect the Irish to welcome it. They are just as developed as Britain today, with a higher GDP per capita and living standards in fact.
History is what it is, and the people of Ireland will have to decide for themselves what they want to do, going forward. NI is one of the poorest regions in northern Europe. The GFA allows NI to either stay with Britain or to join with the rest of Ireland. It is really up to them, but if I were Irish then I would probably vote to join with the south.
And let’s not forget Paul — less angry but just as earnest as John.
“we were taught creative myths covering several topics: … News media will increasingly tell the narrative that their owners and advertisers want told, with little regard for the real situation.”
My idea is that these “media” & edeecational establishments don’t tend to function, basically, as dark, secretive “conspiracies”, but respond to the popular mentalities of the societies which “pay their bills” — the public doesn’t want to deal such things as as appear on OFW, so such realities “don’t sell”.
Lovely idea, but then why tell people, I don’t know, that you need a vaccine to be healthy? that there were weapons of mass destruction in iraq? or even that you need to ingest statins every day to be healthy. how are those things a reality that sells?
“Follow the money works most of the time.” Not a conspiracy, it is a job; invest enough time in and starting over is too hard.
Dennis L.
Two or more people acting covertly in concert to do something unethical, illegal or harmful is a conspiracy by definition.
The “conspiracy” lies in them getting together to plan the action.
conspiracy (n.)
mid-14c., “a plotting of evil, unlawful design; a combination of persons for an evil purpose,” from Anglo-French conspiracie, Old French conspiracie “conspiracy, plot,” from Latin conspirationem (nominative conspiratio) “agreement, union, unanimity,” noun of action from past-participle stem of conspirare “to agree, unite, plot,” literally “to breathe together”
These days, of course, thanks to modern telecommunication systems, it’s fairly easy for people to conspire without breathing the same air together. And even in the old days, people could conspire by mail, semaphore or passenger pigeon.
Some people seem to need and want a happily-ever-after story, it you just use my potion, or follow my advice. I agree with Dennis that “follow the money” often works for why they are put together in the first place. There may be other reasons as well, of course.
Hello Gail!
“To me, crude oil production is of particular importance because this form of oil is especially useful. These fuels have uses when energy density is not important, but they do not operate the heavy machinery needed to maintain today’s economy.”
Do not worry Gail & Friends… We’ll do it all with ELECTRICITY! After we clean the Planet out of a few billions uman animals of course!
The problem is the transmission lines. And getting electricity 24/7/365. And converting all of our exiting devices to use electricity. How does a person operate a tractor in a field with electricity? Lots of batteries? Or a long cord?
I remember John Howe and his solar powered tractor.
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/401313016765300756/
batteries can work. they can be a separate wagon it pulls and is self driving. It goes back to the changer station and the second battery pack takes over. it can take say two hours to charge.
You are a physicist as I recall.
Even with half the wheels, half the rolling friction the weight of the battery is increased mass. Only gain is from difference between gross weight and battery weight as well as possibly lower friction with fewer wheels.
Wish it worked,
Dennis L.
How big will the batteries need to be for the giant Cat trucks needed to extract the raw materials for this “green” tech?
“…Lots of batteries? Or a long cord?”
Looks like mixed model is tested.

Amazing engineering. Techno-utopia at its best.
> Techno-utopia at its best.
Laughable!
My first reaction would be to make an underground grid of electrical plugs in the fields just like the circular water irrigation systems and have the tractors farm via circular concentric rings from each individual electricity hub.
But at the rate the soil is being eroded, the tractor would probably dig up the exposed electrical lines after just a few years.
Too bad we don’t have the materials to make these things in any reasonable quantity.

As pensions start to cash in bonds for treasuries. What happens next? Stocks slowly start their decline? Or do things start to pick up the pace?
We will find out.
At some point, the US dollar may rise too high relative to other currencies, and then everything come apart.
As Gail astutely points out, we have built up a complex society with too many people, based mostly on fossil fuels. This society, and all the consumption, inefficiencies and waste, requires increasing amounts of energy to maintain. The problem is the worldwide EROEI is diminishing. Simple math and no solution other than massive population decline.
Klaus and his ilk know this. Now you do, too.
Gum,
It is a society, it works, it has worked and a good guess is it will work. Bet on it failing, be wrong and loss of all that time is essentially compound interest missed in all aspects of life.
Too often on OFW the focus is on what has not worked in the past, not on what has worked even if we find that disagreeable. Wokeness for me is having a dream which is against thermodynamics and ignoring all the things that do work and can work. Wokeness becomes a rant of “if onlys.” I have noticed even here there will be rants, which sink into nihilism that all is lost. Maybe, certainly some day if we do not leave earth, the sun’s enlargement will make all of man’s efforts at climate change seem trivial indeed.
I read Meadows early on, so to probably Warren; his way worked better, wonderful life, wonderful, interesting friends which most of us can only dream of.
All the best,

A major Clearance of the poor is not avoidable.
Those who own properties won’t suffer the poor for too long.
Don’t know about that about owning properties….most will probably be stranded assets left fallow without the arsenal of i.c.e and ff inputs to produce food. Visited southern Minnesota and realized then that the vast majority of agricultural land will be abandoned and there will be no structures there for people to move back.
During the Depression owning real estate was a bad investment…a journal was published from an accountant that chronicled his observations. Property was a sink from paying taxes, upkeep and lack of paying tenants.
As Edwin here keeps pointing out BAU does not work anymore..
PS. The Energy Sceptic site just posted an article on John Deere with a phototype electric plow harvester…good luck with that …
John Deere to the rescue. They’ve created an electric tractor that can do just one thing: Till soil for cultivation (Vincent 2022). The John Deere Sesam 2 (also known as GridCON 2) is an 8.5 metric ton automated electric tractor with 1,000 kWh of energy storage and 500 kW (680 hp) of power. It comes with a 1-kilometer-long cable (max 2.5 kV/300 kW) which rolls on and off automatically. The electric power unit delivers 100 kW (136 HP) to the wheels, and 200 kW (272 HP) to power additional machinery. It is driven to the field with a wireless remote control and then the farmer can use a computer to tell the tractor what to do and which paths to take.

If you want to laugh some read some comments are by actual farmers regarding how practical the thing is….
PS Bill Gates is the largest private “owner” of farm land in Minnesota…ain’t that a joke..
Lot that’s going to do him and his heirs ….suppose the Government will attempt to divert resources to rescue Agribusiness from collapsing at the start of the End of the World Party.. should be a good show
Herb, cattle raising and some fruit agriculture can still be done with minimal inputs. but yes, only after most of the consumers have moved on to the next life.
Sure it can… would of, could of and should have for the millions here that should have adapted Permaculture in their Front lawms and instead grew grass with lots of artificial fertilizers. More than we grow actually grow food with!!! Imagine that drd!
Good luck with your own efforts…I’m glad I’m old now and don’t have to be too concerned about attempting to make it through the bottleneck.
Looks like my retirement years will not be as my Mother, who will reach 100 years old in a couple months! BAU to the Max!
there is still grass land, I assure you, and hand cranked pumps. and cattle and sheep can be outside in -40 temperatures. there are a number of no spray fruits and nuts. the rest of agriculture is in trouble.
OK, it’s all out there…. sure it is….
Easier said than done, my friend!
Remember Gail saying we can’t rely and the average as far as agricultural is concerned…but what happens when a string of adverse years occur, like what we are experiencing now?
Was rewatching Michael Ruppert on YouTube.
The man did have great common sense and insight.

He told it like it is…like his remark about CC ..
Did not care what the cause of it…the fact is the climate is changing…now deal with it…
Try to do that with Permaculture!
that is one of the points. normal grassland has roots to 4 meters or more. normal agricultural crops like wheat or corn do not exceed 1.2 meters. grassland is far more resilient to droughts.
OK maybe that will work when we revert back to a solar population level…doubt I’ll see it happen friend
The usual response to running out of NPK is that the world will simply convert to “organic” farming technology. Currently less than 1% of world food production is “organic” produced.
The other part of their faulty assumption is that they don’t know that most “organic” farmers are composting traditional NPK crop waste to renew their “organic? farm soils.
The safe assumption is that world populations will decline to about 1 B where it was prior to the first industrial rev. farming techniques. Of course – assuming we don’t nuke ourselves out of existence fighting over the last finite critical resources.
look just like the battery pack for my electric lawn mower only BIGGER.

problem lies in defining ”poor”
if you go down that route, then that decision has to be made by another human being.
at what level does ‘poor” kick in.—–make no mistake, ‘poor’ will have to be precisely defined—- is it to be ‘poor’ in money—‘poor’ in health—‘poor in age’— ‘poor’ in intellect.–‘poor’ in morals?
(All of the above have been the focus of the death sentence at some time in past history btw)
when the decision is made about who is poor and who isn’t, then the means of ‘disposing’ of them has to be established.
such ‘means’ must include other people, to work the necessary mechanisms to put the process in operation.
the ‘poor’ will not surrender themselves willingly, they will run and hide.
if they do that, then ’round up squads’ will be formed to catch them.
Gets interesting doesn’t it?
*******
just pointing out what happens when ‘clearance of the poor’ is thoughtlessly tossed out there. Even in humour)
My take, most well off folks think they are “rich” and financially secure because of their portfolio and other assets. We all realize here at OFW this is a grand illusion…like the Styx hit song..

Showing my old Age..but it was a fun, carefree existence ..lucky me
well–I am financially solvent enough to take of foreseeable needs until the grim reaper drops by.
But what if i need something really major fixed–heart bypass surgery for instance.
I certainly couldn’t afford that—so would that add me to the ‘surplus’ pile of redundant humanity?
Then you best stop the boosters
I wrote this piece in the previous blog bu it was buried so I will write here again.

Long story short, Vietnam was conquered by a peasant rebel named Nguyen Hue, who hailed from a region called Tay Son.
The leader of the landowners, Nguyen Anh (no relation – 40% of all Vietnamese have the name Nguyen) was the last of his family, Hue having killed all of Anh’s clan.
Anh seeked the aid of the French, and sent his son to Louis XVI for help. However, something called the French Revolution took place, which made aiding Anh a low priority in Paris.
Past forward 15 years, and Hue had died in the meantime. Anh and a French priest assembled Royalist deserters and other Frenchmen who didn’t like Bonaparte and raised an Army,
Again, long story short, Anh managed to reconquer Vietnam, although it was now a French vassal state (apparently they made deal with Napoleon later).
First, Anh killed all relatives of Hue (all of his sons had died by that time), male or female.
Then he killed every single person , guilty or innocent, from the region of Tay Son,at least 500,000 and abolished the region.
Anh , being a landowner, negated all of the land reforms Hue had instituted, and made sure the former landowners got back their lands, to the last square inch. Free peasants were once again made into serfs, an arrangement which continued until 1975 in South Vietnam (and the Vietnamese community in USA and elsewhere wants to restore it if they ever have their chance again.)
The scholars liked such approaches since they were reactionaries, although he is not really remembered by the Vietnamese now since they chose to throw him into the memory hole.
The French who worked with Anh returned to France after 1814, and apparently told their story to Marie Therese, Marie Antoinette’s daughter and the effective ruler of France 1815-1830. (There were two kings in the meantime but they were ineffective and she basically ran everything)
MT was a uber-ultra reactionary, and she largely tried to do what Anh did in Vietnam to France. The nobles, who had been kicked out, reclaimed a sizable portion of their properties, and also won their dominance in the local politics.
MT was deposed before she completed all of the retrenchment to ancien regime, but the French nobles, having reclaimed about 50% of their former power, still hold it though they now keep lower profiles and try not to pay too much attention to Paris.
That’s how post-collapse Restoration is. It will be brutal, and lots of people will be killed.
Indeed and this is the concern that most people overlook. Even if we had a “revolution” to throw out the current system, the problem is that we would be left so weakened that we would actually more vulnerable to an even more ruthless and despotic regime. Nature does not tolerate a vacuum nor do civilizations and political systems. I best we can hope for is a slow grind downward over the next generation or two as far as population. Either a population decline or drastic reduction in living standards which would apply mostly to the western countries who have enjoyed the largesse afforded by fertile land, the one time gift of fossil fuel, natural resources , and adequate potable fresh water upon a relatively low world population instead of a catastrophic war or famine etc.The problem is, rationing and austerity are politically more difficult than launching a catastrophic war, famine or pandemic
Revolution eats its children. Always!
“First, Anh killed all relatives of Hue (all of his sons had died by that time), male or female.
Then he killed every single person , guilty or innocent, from the region of Tay Son,at least 500,000 and abolished the region.”
Interesting how the East Asians are egalitarian in sex. Compared with the Bible and the Indo-European influenced cultures. Only the Males got the sword. And many times the female relatives are plunder to be used or sold into slavery.
Aside from women who are actually a threat like Jezebel and Athaliah.
I noticed while reading the comments section that some posters ventured that covid lockdowns, the sanctions war, and climate change hysteria were just ways to reduce energy consumption while hiding from the public that the real problem is falling energy supplies. I have two things to say about these conspiracy theories.
First, I am offended by the insinuation that western politicians are so clever that conspiracy is the only explanation. Our western leaders do not take a back seat to those of any other country or civilization when it comes to stupidity and incompetence, and I demand that they be respected as the intellectual peers of non western leaders that they really are.
Second, the way our leaders in both America and western Europe went begging to Middle Eastern oil and gas producers and, in the case of the US, went crawling even to our despised enemies in Iran and Venezuela, whom we had formerly treated as the dirt beneath our feet, to replace Russian oil and gas exports tells me that they are not merely playing dumb but are genuinely clueless as to the true nature of our quandary.
I believe that everything happens for multiple reasons. Politicians may not even be aware of all of the underlying reasons. Shutdowns stop riots and keep order, for example. They also cut the amount of fossil fuel imports that are needed, and hide the fact that factories were operating at far less than full capacity, before the shutdowns. We often are told a “good” reason, rather than the real reason.
Climate change has become a general excuse for almost everything, unfortunately.
Politicians are clowns… or at best spokespersons.. they have zero power… the Elders… the Deep State … and their minions (govt administrators) execute the CovCON and UEP….
The only reason politicians exist is to create the pretence of democracy — you have to vote for somebody… now you could almost use blow up dolls… except they are not quite life like yet
There is a logical fallacy here. Western politicians do not set the agenda. What they repeat endlessly on TV is sent to them in the form of bullet talking points at 4am every day. They did not conspire to do anything.
glad somebody else is pointing this out
Who made the script?
a small powerful clique which controls global finance, and through the monopoly of creating money, also media, internet, big pharma, and a few other sectors. along with them, a number of consiglieri from the political, military and religious part of the world. a mafia in structure, and philosophy.
> a small powerful clique …
Sounds like the plot from a film, an unrealistic one …
How many could Stalin kill with just a written order?
How many people made the decisions and sent out the orders which established the huge Gulag empire?
How many people direct corporate policies, control central banks, political parties, bureaucracies, churches, etc?
It’s the way things work: and these people have both an aim, a sense of corporate self-interest, and a fully-articulated ideology.
The lower layers will act like automatons, nothing more.
the world is full of unrealistic things. If you believe the media, the world economy was destroyed over a bad cold.
> I have two things to say about these conspiracy theories.
Many doing the same thing doesn’t equal a conspiracy …
There is no fight to fight when there is no war
There is no enemy to find when there is no enemy
There is no difference if there is a conspiracy or if it is an emerging phenomenon. We humans are not really capable of grasping what is going on here. If you travel the web you will find billions of videos and texts analysing something we currently name as “they” or “them”.
So what is the entity ??? No one knows. An emerging phenomenon?
Why is there no coordinated resistance emerging ?
I call this the “Fuehrerbunker mentality”
Be it genes or terrorist organisations or Russia, if we attack the Fuehrerbunker, we will solve all problems. Binary.
I might get the point that there is no entity destroying all human qualities of lfe although I would consider opposing that none-entity.
Unfortunately I have the impression that it is everywhere or at least in every institution.
You could argue they just do it for the money or simply to keep their positions. Well, everything will be all right here then ?…
thats nothing
on OFW i have been designated as an ‘elder’
but i never get to join
why?
#metoo!
there must be a subtle difference between ‘elder’ and old git
i wonder if money has anything to do with it
I am offended by the insinuation that western politicians are so clever that conspiracy is the only explanation.
Of course, you are welcome to be offended if you like. To paraphrase a well known cliché, taking offense is the best defense.
But it puzzles me that this particular claim has offended you.
Also, I am surprised that somebody would characterize the claim as an insinuation, which is defined, for those who are not familiar with the term, as “an unpleasant hint or suggestion of something bad”.
What is “bad” about claiming that western politicians are so clever, etc., etc. Would it be “better” to claim that they were so stupid that conspiracy couldn’t be an explanation?
When a treachery of politicians flock together with a rave of woke pop crooners and an unkindness of merchant bankers in Davos to breathe the same air and plot the future course of world affairs, is the word “conspiracy” an inappropriate choice of collective noun to describe the gathering?
Incidentally, collective nouns for a group of ravens (or at least the common raven) include “rave”, “treachery”, “unkindness,” and “conspiracy”, for reasons that will be clear to anyone who has to deal with these carrion feeders.

Supermarkets set limits on sale of cooking oil
Some supermarkets are limiting how much cooking oil customers are able to buy as supplies are hit by war in Ukraine.
Tesco is allowing three items per customer. Waitrose and Morrisons have limited shoppers to two items each.
The majority of the UK’s sunflower oil comes from Ukraine and disruption to exports has led to some shortages and an increased demand for alternatives.
The British Retail Consortium says the restrictions are a temporary measure “to ensure availability for everyone.”
Olive, rapeseed and sunflower oils are included in the limits being put in place by some supermarkets, both in-store and online.
Iceland have not yet commented on pictures posted on social media of signs that have appeared in its stores limiting sales of two-litre and five-litre bottles of sunflower oil to one per customer.
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-61193141
So far here in parts of the US cooking oil is not being rationed. My local supermarket had a sale on Olive Oil, buy one get one free. So I purchased two 16oz cold pressed extra virgin olive oil.
Serious question: what do people use cooking oil for? I rarely buy it and only when baking desserts. For regular cooking of meals I use a nonstick surface and never had a problem. Feel like I’m missing some big cooking secret? Do people really put oil all over their food and coat their pots and pans in it?
Not clear. And, together with sugar, cooking oil is the least healthy thing you will find in a supermarket. The rationing is due to massive amounts of it being used to dope kerosene and making it similar to diesel. What amazes me, I use tallow usually, and it is given for free, although usually you have to render it.
I use bacon fat for most frying, or butter.
Bacon is regularly on sale buy one get one free. I stock up. the fat goes into a coffee can in the fridge. You can also bake with it, also make pie crusts.
Ditto butter, etc. When on 2-for-1 sale, grab as much as you can.
I have a feeling these sales might have something to do with sell-by dates, but not sure why such items go on sale.
Yes, cooking oil is one of the most unhealthy items you can put into your body. If a cake recipe calls for oil, just melt same amount of butter.
Of course, nonstick surfaces put PFAS into the groundwater.
The oil/fats/heart disease hysteria has a hell of a lot to answer for.
This is a great tip, Jane. I will tell the Mrs!
I bought beef backfat to render in Japan, and it was high quality. But not cheap at all. Tallow will always be better than lard.
For popcorn, cooking vegetables as well as meat. Some people don’t like baking and prefer to cook their foods using cooking oil.
Carbs are the real enemy …
The coming volume drop in ocean container volumes (TEUs) leaving China for US ports is staggering.

‘Companies are beginning to panic’: Experts say China’s lockdowns will make inflation and the supply chain nightmare even worse
“Now, the economic effects are starting to show. Fuel demand in China is on track to drop 20% this month in the biggest decline since the first wave of COVID-19 lockdowns more than two years ago, sources told Bloomberg on Friday. And global supply chains are beginning to feel the crunch as well.”

Water Thresholds
In order to understand the grave danger China is facing, we need to understand water usage and thresholds below which the population begins to face some level of danger. For that, we’re going to turn to Reuters for an overview.
At a minimum, a civilization requires 1,700 cubic meters of water per person per year to be considered water secure. This amounts to 373,947 gallons of water per person, with a minimum of 4,156 gallons of water per year to ensure good health.
Freshwater is used for everything from industry to agriculture to power generation, and our infrastructure is rated for a minimum level of water moving through the pipes. If that water falls below that level, pressure drops and the water can become unsafe.
This starts to become a problem at 1,000 cubic meters per person per year, and reaches a threat level at 500 cubic meters per person per year.
Beijing is currently sitting at 100 cubic meters of fresh water per person per year. Barely seven times the necessary minimum for a person to remain healthy, with the rest stretched thin and endlessly recycled as it eventually becomes useless for any purpose which brings it into contact with humans in any way.
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/china-verge-major-food-crisis-part-2-water
Totally agree Fast, and it’s something that doesn’t get enough mention. Industrial Civilization besides needing fossil fuels to power it also needs massive amounts of water for it to operate. You say you want your Shale Oil production? That requires “obscene amounts of FRESH water”.
Industrial Agriculture as well requires obscene levels of fresh water for irrigation. You like your electronics gadgets and smartphones? That also requires obscene amounts of fresh water to produce. Chip makers for all kinds of electronics including electronics and computers that power modern cars, need obscene amounts of fresh water.
Meanwhile we have MASSIVE mega droughts taking shape around the world. The Colorado river is running dry. Fresh water is just as important as fossil fuels to allow for IC to exist.
Oh and last on the list are Hooman’s who need fresh drinking water to stay alive.
Yes, the water situation in China is terrible. Yet, in Beijing, in 2015, I saw decorative plantings being sprinkled by water systems.
It never rains but it pours. There was more than enough water passing the Three Gorges Dam the last couple of years. The rainfall, like the sunshine, just isn’t as evenly distributed in time and space as convenience would like. People build huge megapolises of 20 or 30 million individuals and then complain there isn’t enough fresh water, fresh air, greenery or electricity. When will they ever learn?
The Ukraine conflict has roiled the global edible oil market. The Black Sea region accounts for 76% of world sunoil exports. Commercial shipments in the region have been disrupted due mainly by insurers for vessels charging very high war premiums that make cargo nearly impossible in insure.
Indonesia’s move adds to the growing food protectionism as several other countries, including Argentina, have raised export taxes on edible oils. Meanwhile, Moldova, Hungary, and Serbia have banned some grain exports.
Increasing food protectionism is another worry for importers dependent on other countries (such as ones in the Middle East and Africa) that may lead to shortages and trigger unrest.
As we noted initially, the Rockefeller Foundation has given a timeframe on when the food crisis begins.
https://www.zerohedge.com/commodities/indonesia-bans-edible-oil-export-sparks-mayhem-global-food-crisis-ahead
If or when there is unrest in MENA, there is a very high possibility that petroleum production will be crimped severely. It is a positive feedback with very huge negative consequences
I could see the authorities in key centres like oil producing countries … (if UEP is delayed for too long)… imposing a total communications blackout … locking down the energy supplies… and either allowing the people to rip faces off… or hosing them down by the tens of thousands with bullets
They will do whatever it takes to buy more time for UEP and Devil Covid… murdering huge numbers is justified because they will be dead soon anyway.
Too bad about the blackout though.
I’d like to watch — I’d invite some cows and sheep and goats over and buy a Super Size Screen and feed them all treats and we’d gather round watching Revenge Tee Vee.
This is a f789ing horror show
Thanks for the post. The mainstream media has been instructed to state that it is proven that vaccines don’t cause autism. That is a lie. Research into it and one finds that the “conclusive” studies are tenuous, at best. The aluminium adjuvant is the likely culprit and many studies showing this have been suppressed.
Vitamin D and COVID-19: how important was vitamin D to COVID sequelae? Well, turns out very very important whereby 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D)has inverse relationship with infection/mortality etc.

This is a good point. It looks to me as if vitamin D research slowed down/stopped with the development of the vaccines. This article cites two different research studies:

MARK Steyn’s blistering monologue at the start of his Thursday evening GB News show is a must-watch if you missed it.
In it he calls for a Royal Commission into the UK’s Covid policy that ‘screwed over’ a generation of children, left people unseen and untreated by the NHS or to die in ‘care’ homes, mired people in depression, and ruined livelihoods. More than that – a Commission must inquire into the groupthink of the politico-media class that blindly followed the official narrative, and cast questioning or alternative data as disinformation. This is what drove the other iniquities.
The shocking truth about vaccine efficacy, specifically the fact that the ‘so-zealously promoted’ Covid vaccine third booster shot has failed also catalysed his fury. The triple-vaccinated, published UK data shows, run more chance of infection, hospitalisation and death than the combined total of double, single and unvaccinated.
It is powerful, much-needed stuff from Mark, and it should leave news and current affairs presenters, producers and editors over the MSM elsewhere hanging their heads in shame.
You can watch the segment here. The full transcript of his monologue follows it. It is an article in itself.

After a bit of reasoning the “numbers” he writes:
If you were to compare the prevalence of Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s between the two Groups you would undoubtedly find that the triple-vaccinated Group B showed a much higher rate than Group A, but it’s obvious, surely, that this is more likely to be the result of Group B containing most of the Oldies and virtually none of the children than that it was the result of Group B having been triple-vaccinated. The inter-Group comparison of virtually anything in which age is a factor will show a substantial difference between the two Groups, but it would be hard to establish that very many of these differences were due to vaccination status.
None of this is to say that I am any less confident that there is something sinister and perhaps evil going on with respect to the vaccination campaign, but it’s a double-standard to call out the misinterpretation of statistics by ones critics and not to do the same when this misinterpretation is made by ones supporters. It should be restricted to the Left, the collectivists and the authoritarians to sink to employing double-standards as part of their argumentative armoury.
Yes. I am so tired of these ignorant, spamming comments by people who do not understand statistics. It drags down the quality of the blog.
I figure we need a bit of grit to keep the blade sharp, but it does get tedious and so I really appreciate comment sections where one finds fast-track analysis of where an author goes wrong. None of us has time to do it all ourselves. FE throws a lot at the wall and at least some of it sticks. I don’t believe one person can do all of that research and posting but in any case I do appreciate the link to Bryam Bridle today. That dissertation is something I can easily send to old friends who think I’m off my rocker. You know, the ones who claim to follow the “science” but spend all their time avoiding actual self-directed research. I am curious how “FE” resolves the flame-wars arising lately between the personalities we’ve been so hammered and enamored with via “alt-media”. As a wise man once said: “Some truth there was, but dashed and brewed with lies, to please the fools and puzzle all the wise”.
I don’t believe one person can do all of that research and posting — I’d like to say FE has a big team of researchers … but no…. HE is a one-man machine … HE is obsessed with ‘knowing’… this obsession intensifies the closer we come to The End.
I have trouble typing fast enough to keep up….
Yes, and this is like a graph done a few months ago about deaths of over-60s in NZ being correlated with over-60s vaccinations. Of course, that was nothing more than a statistical fluke due to vaccinations of over-60s peaking in the winter, just when deaths in the over-60s usually peak. Even some people here were convinced by the graph because it matched their particular view of the world. Sadly, many apparently intelligent people (including Chris Martenson) were taken in by it and, as far as I know, haven’t acknowledged their mistake to this day.
I am chuckling as I read this — so is Hoolio — when their deadly scam is exposed — they just stop the data hahahahaha
As you can see from the above the case-rates per 100k have been highest among the triple vaccinated population over these 3 months, except for the 18-29-year-olds in the week 3 report only, and the under 18’s in all 3 months.
However, it is worth noting the rapid decline in rates among unvaccinated children compared to the small decline in rates among vaccinated children. This suggests that in just a few weeks the case rate will be highest among triple jabbed kids. But now we’ll never know because the UKHSA is hiding it.
https://dailyexpose.uk/2022/04/17/gov-refuses-publish-vaccinated-suffering-ai-ds-ade/
UK Government refuses to publish further COVID-19 Data because it suggests the Triple Vaccinated are developing AIDS & the Double Vaccinated are suffering ADE
“The UK Health Security Agency is refusing to publish any further data on Covid-19 cases, hospitalisations and deaths by vaccination status because previous figures show that the triple vaccinated population are on the verge of developing Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, and the double vaccinated are suffering Antibody-Dependent Enhancement.

Fauci is somewhere smacking his lips in D-Light.
According to a ZH article posted yesterday, Tony “P.O.S.” Fauci wants him as well as the CDC to override any and all mandates. So if Tony gets his way that means forcing people to get injected and forever wear their masks until Tony feels it’s not necessary.
Forever in this case will be a short period
