There is more to the fossil fuel energy predicament than we usually hear about.
Strangely enough, a big part of the confusion regarding the nature of our energy problem comes from the fact that virtually everyone wants to hear good news, even when the news isn’t very good. We end up seeing information in the Mainstream Media mostly from the perspective of what people want to hear, rather than from the perspective of what the story really is. In this post, I explain why this situation tends to occur. I also explain why our current energy situation is starting to look more and more like an energy shortage situation that could lead to economic collapse.

Most people attending my talk reported that they had mostly heard about the issue on the right end of Slide 2: the problem of using too much fossil fuel and related climate change.
I think the real issue is the one shown on the left side of Slide 2. This is a physics issue. Without fossil fuels, we would find it necessary to go back to using older renewables, such as oxen or horses for plowing, burned wood and other biomass for heat, and wind-powered sail boats for international transport.
Needless to say, these older renewables are only available in tiny quantities today, if they are available at all. They wouldn’t provide many jobs other than those depending on manual labor, such as subsistence agriculture. Nuclear and modern renewables would not be available because they depend on fossil fuels for their production, maintenance and long distance transmission lines.
On Slide 4, note that M. King Hubbert was a physicist. This seems to be the academic specialty that finds holes in other people’s wishful thinking.
Another thing to note is Hubbert’s willingness to speculate about the future of nuclear energy. He seemed to believe that nuclear energy could take over, when other energy fails. Needless to say, this hasn’t happened. Today, nuclear energy comprises only 4% of the world’s total energy supply.
The transcript of the entire talk by Rear Admiral Hyman Rickover is worth reading. I have excerpted a few sentences from his talk. His talk took place only a year after Hubbert published his research.
Rickover clearly understood the important role that fossil fuels played in the economy. At that early date, it looked as if fossil fuels would become too expensive to extract between 2000 and 2050. A doubling of unit costs for energy may not sound like much, but it is, if a person thinks about how much poor people in poor countries spend on food and other energy products. If the price of these goods rises from 25% of their income to 50% of their income, there is not enough left over for other goods and services.
Regarding Slide 6, the book The Limits to Growth by Donella Meadows and others provided early computer modeling of how population growth and extraction of resources might play out. The base model seemed to indicate that economic decline would start about now. Various other scenarios were considered, including a doubling of the resources. Without very unrealistic assumptions, the economy always headed downward before 2100.
Another way of approaching the problem is to analyze historical civilizations that have collapsed. Peter Turchin and Sergey Nefedov analyzed eight economies that collapsed in their book Secular Cycles. There have been many examples of economies encountering a new source of energy (conquering a new land, or developing a new way of producing more energy), growing for a time, reaching a time where growth is more limited, and finally discovering that the economy that had been built up could no longer be supported by the resources available. Both population and production of goods and services tended to crash.
We can think of the current economy, based on the use of fossil fuels, as likely following a similar path. Coal began to be used in quantity about 200 years ago, in 1820. The economy grew, as oil and natural gas production was added. We seem to have hit a period of “Stagflation,” about 1970, which is 50 years ago. The timing might be right to enter the “Crisis” period, about now.
We don’t know how long such a Crisis Period might last this time. Early economies were very different from today’s economy. They didn’t depend on electricity, international trade or international finance in the same way that today’s world economy does. It is possible (in fact, fairly likely) that the downslope might occur more rapidly this time.
Past Crisis Periods seem to feature a high level of conflict because rising population leads to a situation where there are no longer enough goods and services to go around. According to Turchin and Nefedov, some features of the Crisis Periods included increased wage disparity, collapsing or overturned governments, debt defaults, inadequate tax revenue and epidemics. Economists tell us that there is a physics reason for the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer during Crisis Periods; in some sense, the poor get “frozen out” and the wealth rises to the top, like steam.
Slide 9 is a chart I prepared several years ago, showing the growth in the world production of fuels of various types. What little wind and solar was available at that time was included in the biofuels section at the bottom. Early biofuels consisted largely of wood and charcoal used for heat.
Slide 10 shows average annual increases for 10-year periods corresponding to the periods shown on Slide 9. This chart goes to 2020, so it covers a full 200-year period. Note that the increases in energy consumption shown are especially high in the 1951-1960 and 1961-1970 periods. These periods occurred after World War II when the economy was growing especially rapidly.
Slide 11 is similar to Slide 10, except I divide the bars into two pieces. The bottom, blue part corresponds to the amount that population grew, on average, during this ten-year period. Whatever is left over I have referred to as the amount available to increase the standard of living, shown in red. A person can see that when the overall growth in energy consumption is high, population tends to rise rapidly. With more energy, it is possible to feed and clothe larger families.
Slide 12 is like Slide 11, except that it is an area chart. I have also added some notes regarding what went wrong when energy consumption growth was low or negative. An early dip occurred at the time of the US Civil War. There was a very long, low period later that corresponded to the period of World War I, World War II and the Depression. The collapse of the central government of the Soviet Union occurred in 1991, so it is part of the 10-year period ended 2000. Most recently, we have encountered COVID shutdowns.
The peaks, on the other hand, tended to be good times. The period leading up to 1910 corresponded to the time of early electrification. The period after World War II was a period of growth and rebuilding. Most recently, China and its large coal resources helped pull the world economy forward. China’s coal supply stopped growing about 2013. I have written that we can no longer depend on China’s economy to pull the world economy forward. With recent rolling blackouts in China (mentioned in the next section), this is becoming more evident.
Without enough energy, the current period is beginning to look more and more like the period that included World War I and II and the Great Depression. Strange outcomes can occur when there basically are not enough resources to go around.
Slide 14 shows recent energy production. A person can see from this slide that wind and solar aren’t really ramping up very much. A major problem is caused by the fact that wind and solar are given the subsidy of “going first” and prices paid to other electricity producers are adjusted downward, to reflect the fact that their electricity is no longer needed by the grid. This approach tends to drive nuclear out of business because wholesale electricity rates tend to fall to very low levels, or become negative, when unneeded wind and solar are added. Nuclear power plants cannot easily shut down. Instead, the low prices tend to drive the nuclear power plants out of business. This is sad, because electricity from nuclear is far more stable, and thus more helpful to the grid, than electricity from wind or solar.
Fossil fuel producers need quite high energy prices for a variety of reasons. One of these reasons is simply because the easiest-to-extract resources were removed first. In recent years, producers have needed to move on to resources with a higher cost of extraction, thus raising their required selling prices. Wages of ordinary citizens haven’t kept up, making it hard for selling prices to rise sufficiently to cover the new higher costs.
Another issue is that fossil fuel energy prices need to cover far more than the cost of drilling the current well. Producers need to start to develop new areas to drill, years in advance of actually getting production from those sites. They need extra funds to work on these new sites.
Also, oil companies, especially, have historically paid high taxes. Besides regular income taxes, oil companies pay state taxes and royalty taxes. These taxes are a way of passing the “surplus energy” that is produced back to the rest of the economy, in the form of taxes. This is exactly the opposite of wind and solar that need subsidies of many kinds, especially the subsidy of “going first,” that drives other electricity providers out of business.
Prices for oil, coal and natural gas have been far lower than producers need, for a long time. The COVID shutdowns in 2020 made the problem worse. Now, with producers quitting at the same time the economy is trying to reopen, it is not surprising that some prices are spiking.
Most local US papers don’t tell much about world energy prices, but these are increasingly becoming a big problem. Natural gas is expensive to ship and store, so prices vary greatly around the world. US natural gas prices have roughly doubled from a year ago, but this is a far lower increase than many other parts of the world are experiencing. In fact, the bills that most US natural gas residential customers will receive will increase by far less than 100% because at the historic low price, over half of the price for residential service is distribution expenses, and such expenses don’t change very much.
Slide 17 shows another way of looking at data that is similar to that in Slide 14. This slide shows amounts on a per capita basis, with groupings I have chosen. I think of coal and oil as being pretty much the only energy resources that can “stand on their own.” The recent peak year for combined coal and oil, on a per capita basis, was 2008.
Natural gas, nuclear, and hydroelectric were the first add-ons. If a person looks closely, it can be seen that the growth rate of this group has slowed, at least in part because of the pricing problems caused by wind and solar.
The “green” sources at the bottom are growing, but from a very low base. The main reason for their growth is the subsidies they receive. If fossil fuels falter in any major way, it will adversely affect the growth of wind and solar. Already, there are articles about supply chain problems for the big wind turbines. Any cutback in subsidies is also harmful to their production.
US papers don’t tell us much about these problems, but they are getting to be very serious problems in other parts of the world. The countries with the biggest problems are the ones trying to import natural gas or coal. If an exporting country finds its own production falling short, it is likely to make certain that its own citizens are adequately supplied first, before providing exports to others. Thus, importing countries may find very high prices, or supplies simply not available.
This slide got a lot of laughs. The university does have some sort of agricultural plot, but teaching subsistence farming is not its goal.
My point about “scientists who are not pressured by the need for research grants or acceptance of written papers are the ones trying to tell the whole truth” got quite a few laughs. As a practical matter, this means that retired scientists tend to be disproportionately involved in trying to discern the truth.
With the military understanding the need to work around energy limits, one change has been to move away from preparation for “hot wars” to more interest in biological weapons, such as viruses. Thus, governments of many countries, including the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Australia and China, have funded research on making viruses more virulent. The vaccine-making industry also supported this effort because it might enhance the industry’s ability to make and sell more vaccines. It was believed that there might even be new techniques that would develop from this new technology that would increase the overall revenue generated by the healthcare industry.
Questions came up, both during the talk and later, about what other changes have taken place because of the need for much of the audience to hear a story with a happily ever after ending, and because of the known likely decline of the economy for physics reasons. Clearly one thing that happens is successful entrepreneurs, such as Elon Musk, aim their production in areas where subsidies will be available. With fossil fuel production not making money, fossil fuel producers are even willing to undertake renewable projects if subsidies seem to be high enough. The issue isn’t really, “What is sustainable?” It is much more, “Where will the profits be, given where subsidies will be, and what people are being taught about how to perceive today’s problems?”
In fact, what has been happening in recent years is that a great deal of debt has been added to the world economy. Mostly, this added debt seems to be creating added inflation. It definitely is not leading to the rapid extraction of a great deal more fossil fuels, which is what really would allow the production of more goods and services. If inflation leads to higher interest rates, this, by itself, could destabilize the financial system.
I tried to explain, as I have in the past, how a self-organizing economy works. New citizens are born, and old ones pass away. New businesses are formed, and they add new products, keeping in mind what products citizens want and can afford. Governments add laws and taxes, as situations change. Energy is needed at every step in production, so availability of inexpensive energy is important in the operation of the economy, as well. There are equivalences, such as employees tend also to be customers. If the wages of employees are high, they can afford to buy many goods and services; if wages are low, employees will be very restricted in what they can afford.
In some sense, the economy is hollow inside, because the economy will stop manufacturing unneeded products. If an economy starts making cars, for example, it will phase out products associated with transportation using horse and buggy.
A self-organizing economy clearly does not operate in the simple way economists seem to model the economy. Low prices can be just as big a problem as high prices, for example.
Another issue is that the energy needs of an economy seem to depend on its population and how far it has already been built up. For example, roads, bridges, water distribution pipelines and electricity transmission infrastructure must all be maintained, even if the population falls. We know humans need something like 2000 calories a day of food. Economies seem to have a similar constant need for energy, based on both the number of people in the economy and the amount of infrastructure that has been built up. There is no way to cut back very much, without the economy collapsing.
I am not exactly certain when the first discussion of the economy as a dissipative structure (self-organizing system powered by energy) started. When I prepared this slide, I was thinking that perhaps it was in 1996, when Yoshinori Shizoawa wrote a paper called Economy as a Dissipative Structure. However, when I did a search today, I encountered an earlier paper by Robert Ayres, written in 1988, also discussing the economy as a dissipative structure. So, the idea has been around for a very long time. But getting ideas from one part of academia to other parts of academia seems to be a very slow process.
Debt cannot grow indefinitely, either, because there needs to be a way for it to be paid back in a way that produces real goods and services. Without adequate energy supplies, it becomes impossible to produce the goods and services that consumers need.

This another aspect of why we need change in our reliance on clinical research. The above body of clinical research, 60+ studies and 48,000 participants from multiple nations has been cited as definitive proof Ivermectin is effective in treating covid. I need not remind you that the FDA has not approved ivermectin for covid treatment! As if a veterinarian dewormer could treat covid… This is another reason why our reliance on clinical research needs to be examined and information allowed evaluated by competent professionals!
What is is needed is more integration in between the pharmaceutical industry and our governing agencies. Solutions lie in the great minds of our pharmacological developers not antiquated statistics! Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson was temporarily suspended from YouTube for allegedly spreading “harmful misinformation” after he published a video discussing injuries related to Covid-19 vaccination.
Johnson accused YouTube of “censoring the truth” on Friday evening after his roundtable discussion video, which featured “stories from doctors, scientists and the vaccine injured,” was taken off the platform and led to his temporary suspension.
In the video, the Republican senator listed statistics relating to alleged vaccine side-effect victims, while his guests made comments questioning the effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccines in preventing death.

The vaccine injured do tell their stories; they are often posted here from news sources. But what Johnson should realise, but doesn’t appear to or doesn’t want to, is that VAERS is not a databases of vaccine caused events.

Several commenters here do link to stories about some medical situation following vaccination, some of which may be cause by the vaccine but it is rarely clear cut. VAERS is a database for recording adverse events following vaccination, that the reporter (can be any person) suspects may have been caused by the vaccine. Other countries have similar systems. Some people take those event records to be causative and treat them as data showing the apparently large number of reactions to the vaccines.
Is that clear?

Mike, how many times i need to tell tou what spontaneous reporting of adverse events is? This is like the 5th time! VAERS is spontaneous chanelnfor reporting, as per FDA all spontaneously reported events are causally related. This is the law, this is the regulatory framework.

I’ve responded to this on several prior occasions that this is highly disingenuous statement and provided several resources (including peer reviewed scientific literature without conflicts of interest) that show that:
1/ Although everybody can in theory report , a sizeable portion of these events is actually reported by doctors / medical professionals.
2/ Deaths reported are always checked by the database administration and are always by doctors / medical professionals
3/These databases tend to underreport actual adverse events by as much as factor 10.
4/ Absolute proof would require post mortem examinations, i have so far only seen a few sporadic reports of any such investigations. Given the amount of deaths reported the burden of proof is on the health authorities to show that there is no causal link. So where are these transparent peer reviewed investigations to back it up ?
Last but not least: why would anyone bother which such databases at all if they have “no causal link” ? Their very purpose is to monitor safety and trigger further investigation if something is going wrong. So please point me these further investigations and their conclusions, because right know you are asking to accept without proof that most of these reported events are not related.

Of course, absolute proof would take time and resources, so it seems a few people here are assuming the reports are a) factual and b) causal. They don’t need proof.

Boris Johnson sends message to nations amid rising tensions on borders of eastern Europe
Boris Johnson has warned that the west must soon choose between reliance on Russian gas and standing up for Ukraine amid continuing tensions on the borders of eastern Europe.
In a message to European countries that are heavily dependent on Russian gas, the prime minister suggested he believes Vladimir Putin could be serious about restricting supplies from pipelines that run through eastern Europe, if the west signals its intention to defend Ukraine.
He also accused Belarus’s authoritarian president, Alexander Lukashenko, an ally of Russia, of an “abhorrent” attempt to engineer a migrant crisis on the border with Poland in an effort to undermine European unity.
EU foreign ministers are now expected to expand sanctions against Belarus to include airlines, travel agents and individuals alleged to be helping to entice migrants to Europe in what is being described as a “hybrid attack” on the bloc.
Speaking at the Lord Mayor’s Banquet, Johnson said: “When our Polish friends asked for our help to deal with a contrived crisis on their border with Belarus, we were quick to respond. And we hope that our friends may recognise that a choice is shortly coming between mainlining ever more Russian hydrocarbons in giant new pipelines and sticking up for Ukraine and championing the cause of peace and stability, let me put it that way.”
Boris seems to be talking about the NS2 LNG pipeline, and he is saying that the EU will have to choose between an approval of NS2 and defending UKR from invasion. He does not seem to be saying that EU cannot continue to receive Russian gas through UKR and defend UKR.
It does not seem clear why, if EU can still get Russian gas via UKR and defend UKR, it cannot get Russian gas through UKR and NS2 and defend UKR. There is no obvious coherence to Boris’ position.
One wonders whether Boris has hostile intent toward Russia or the EU – or maybe both?

Does anyone still believe that Boris or any of the states really care about ‘democracy and freedom’ and that they have no concrete (or imagined) geopolitical self-interest that really informs their actions? They seem to get on fairly well with non-democratic states when it suits them, eg. Saudi Arabia. They seem to assume a general naivety in the population, which may well be justified.

HOUSTON (Reuters) – Exxon Mobil on Monday launched a sale of its oil and gas properties in the first major U.S. shale field, a spokesperson confirmed, as part of a portfolio reshuffling to focus on more lucrative assets.
The top U.S. oil producer set a goal three years ago of raising $15 billion from asset sales, and put several U.S. and international assets on the market as energy prices have recovered from the pandemic-induced slump.
It will open a data room on Thursday for its Barnett Shale holdings that include 2,700 wells across about 182,000 acres in North Texas, home of the first horizontally drilled shale wells. Exxon spokesperson Sarah Nordin confirmed the sale process. Production operations will continue normally during the marketing process, Nordin said. There has been no agreement reached on a sale and no buyer was identified, she said.

Certainly for under age 18, it is hard to make a case for vaccines.
The death rate is for a mixture of people who have /have not had the vaccine, since it goes from February 2020 to September 2021. Arguably, the death rate would be higher without the vaccinations.
The CDC estimates that 1 in 1.32 deaths were reported. I have a hard time believing that there is that much under-reporting of COVID deaths. Death certificates need to list causes of death, with a primary cause. I can believe deaths from the vaccine were badly under-reported, but I don’t know about deaths from COVID. I suppose that some of the deaths in nursing homes were unclear as to the cause. COVID could have been missed as a cause. And some people died at home, without the cause really being understood. But this would assume that only 76% of COVID deaths are reported as being COVID deaths. This seems strange.

Everyone, right now, is talking about higher inflation rates. The US inflation rate is the highest it has been in 31 years. It comes from lots of added government spending/debt getting back to citizens, but nothing to spend it on. Interest rates normally rise when the inflation rate is high to make lenders willing to lend in the context of higher inflation rates. The need to be able to buy at least the amount of goods and services with the repaid loan, and they could get now, plus a small margin. Borrowers with problems defaulting, such as those in the property industry in China, especially find themselves with higher interest rates, to reflect the risk of default.
The situation now is far different than in the period before the Korean War. Then, there was a lot of cheap-to-extract energy available. There was a lot of post World War II rebuilding going on.
Inflation means different things at different times.
I mean that this inflation won’t last … economies around the world are slowing down. This is the reason for less oil consumption.. right now people are buying whatever they can because they have been told there will be shortages…. This time next year the story will be of little to no jobs…

The reason why economies maximize extraction of fossil fuels is related to the fact that all of the “growing things” on the planet are dissipative structures. Businesses are dissipative structures. Humans are dissipative structures. Charitable organizations and and churches are dissipative structures. People want their children to live to maturity, so they try to earn enough income so that they can afford to feed, clothe and house their family. It is only rich people in rich countries who can think, “Perhaps I can use less, so other people later can use more?”
The answer is that it doesn’t really work that way. Everything you buy uses fossil fuels and other energy in its making. About the most constructive thing you can do is quit your job, so you will have less (or no) spendable income. This leaves a job that can be filled by someone else. If there are onerous conditions like there often seem to be today (Get vaccinated or you won’t have a job!), it likely won’t be filled. This, indeed, is a way to reduce world demand for energy products and leave more in the ground, ostensibly for future generations. We don’t know if there will be future generations, or if they will be able to get them out any better than we can. But if there are, this seems to be an ideal approach for encouraging the world economy to collapse, through ever-lower demand. The price of energy products will tend to fall, relative to other prices, in this scenario.

If they can’t take something as simple as a shot that helps humanity conquer a pandemic that has brought so much misery and is being exacerbated by the unvaccinated, then we shouldn’t trust them with helping to keep Los Angeles running. Let the defiant move to Idaho along with other California quitters. But leave your pension here — you know, because it bears the stench of tyranny.

I read some of the relevant “secular cycles” material on what to expect in terms of historical collapse warning signs in social degredation and culture clash. Author is using “Statistical” in the sense of data collection “statistics”…no “Mathematical Statistics” (ie hypothesis testing or significance testing analysis) expertise required..rather a simple and profound example showing how an error or manipulation in reporting (in this case by introducing a delay) can cause dynamics of data to make a placebo or harmful vaccine appear “effective” and misreport/miscalculate unvaccinated mortality rates to make them appear much larger than they are
First we had the false positives of PCR leading to “misinterpretation” of case rates and causes of death…..
Now this simple example shows how a one week delay in reporting of deaths can make reality of equal death rates between two groups (vaxed and un-vaxxed) produce dynamic plots of mortality rates (percentage calculation subect to small number effects) appear to vastly different when they are not. This is a time series mismatch due to uncompensated reporting delay in combination with small number effect.
This example even shows how the vaccinated can have a higher death rate but the delayed mismatched dynamic time series data of mortality rate will misreport a spike in unvaccinated death rate while hiding the slight increase in vaccinated death rate
This is not really totally new. Medical dictatorship started long ago, and it achieved mass persuasion a number of times for profit reasons. For example cholesterol. Study after study shows lowest mortality around 220-240 (higher for women) TC, yet the US recommended guidelines are to have TC below 180, where mortality is substantially higher, specially for the most profitable deaths (cancer).
This is achieved with a variety of techniques by Big Pharma. Loading panels with friendly researchers, funding studied but having the last word as to whether the study will be published (so that only favorable studies are published). The method illustrated here (extreme data manipulation) is also quite common and many a career have been built on it. Basically you plot everything against anything, and pick the most profit-favoring plots for publication. It is clear from the raw data that mortality is same in the example.
This got so bad that in 2005 the FDA instituted a rule that the researchers had to declare ahead of time which plots they were going to publish from a study. Yet, the data from England seem to indicate that the jabs have _negative_ effectiveness — they promote infection (or really, positive test results). So while he may be right in opposing the jabs, the mechanism he proposes seems to be contradicted by the evidence (as weak as it may be).
Can you point to those data in England? Here in NZ, the data point to the vaccine being very effective at preventing infection, virus spread but mainly severe disease and hospitalisation.

Guy McPherson, in the first part of the video talks about the raw deal that Generation Z has been given. In fact, the deal young people have been given in general has been going down for a very long time.
In the part starting about 7:30, he addresses the issue of “How should we and young people live, given the bad hand we have been dealt?” He argues that we should appreciate what we have, make the best of every day and live live fully with the appreciation that we may, in fact, die in the not too distant future.
My generation (the boomers) in my homeland (UK) have had a very good deal all in all. But we haven’t appreciated it as much as we should have and we’ve always asked for more. Norman probably thinks we’ve been spoiled rotten! All that affluence and we didn’t have to join the army or labour in the mines or the fields for a pittance.
Younger generations have been having less of a good deal, not necessarily because they have less money or less stuff, although that’s plainly the case, but mainly because they live in a culture that’s gone to pot, to seed, to the dogs.
But I wouldn’t presume to give advice on how to live to any youngster, apart from saying, “Stay away from those jabs! They’re poison!” and recommending them to read eclectically before all the good books are burned or banned.

I have been thinking about this. If the payload is graphene oxide, well, only time can help. Nanoparticles have a half life in the human body of order 100 days. Still, if your body has the ability to take them over time to liver and kidney, you will be mostly OK.

Amazon will have many types. One could even try to buy lipase in bulk which is sold for livestock. Not sure whether the fast should be dry or with fluids. I fast a lot and occasionally dry fast, and that might result in better lipase blood content. But if you don’t know what you are doing, take water, coffee, tea, whatever, and electrolytes.

A new pre-print study from Norway looking at differences in outcomes between vaccinated and unvaccinated hospital patients has found that being vaccinated makes zero difference to the risk of dying once hospitalised for COVID-19.
“There was no difference in the adjusted odds of in-hospital death between vaccinated and unvaccinated patients in any age group,” the researchers write. They also observed no difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated in the length of hospital stay for patients not admitted to ICU. These findings are adjusted for age and other risk factors so are not simply due to the vaccinated being older or at higher risk (though, as always, the validity of the adjustments may be questioned). The findings also only include patients admitted primarily due to Covid, so aren’t confounded by patients admitted for other reasons who also tested positive at some point.

Actually, the Daily Skeptic report is accurate, and even understates the authors’ results. The abstract gives a biased summary of their work. The quote in Fast Eddy’s comment does come directly from the authors’ article, on p. 9. Table 3 shows that the unjabbed tend to be somewhat less likely to die in the hospital than the jabbed, after statistically adjusting for a handful of other factors.
The authors deceived their readers by not highlighting this result in the abstract. Length of stay in the hospital is clearly a less important outcome than death. And it’s possible that the shorter length of stay in the jabbed could be due to their greater mortality in hospital (they died and thus had short stays). Scandalous behavior by the authors …
Correction: the authors do mention the death result in the abstract, in the sentence before the one Dennis quoted They don’t mention the tendency toward greater death in the jabbed, though.
And so we comment to each other on all the changes we are witnessing months into the vaccine roll-out: the unseasonal surge in hospital admissions, the post-jab autoimmune conditions and coagulation disorders, the numbers of ‘double-jabbed’ patients admitted with severe Covid infection, the numbers of lives ruined by lockdown and other Covid control policies.
I challenge any doctor to deny that all of this simply feels wrong. To avoid this uncomfortable, authentic, human feeling – important information that should be acted upon – we will reach for something rote.
‘Anecdote is not evidence’ and ‘association is not causation’ will be the justification for carrying on, no questions asked, even though most of the damaging control measures implemented from on high were not based on any evidence at all.
Meanwhile, an already struggling NHS has been damaged beyond repair by many of these policies. We are overwhelmed by the demand that we cannot meet, and the complexity of the crisis feels far beyond just one hospital Trust. The locus of responsibility to investigate remains above us and we wait for someone with more authority to come round and make sense of it.
And as we remain silent, the destruction continues.

So, as I understand the situation, it looks a lot like Retinoic Acid (or a very closely related molecule, Accutane) is being used as a vaccine adjuvant by Pfizer and Moderna. The side effects of the vaccine look a great deal like the side effect of Retinoic Acid poisoning. It sounds a lot like at least part of the problem with these vaccines is the Retinoic Acid/Accutane being added as an adjuvant.
One question: Does Johnson and Johnson’s vaccine not have one of these adjuvants in it? I know it doesn’t seem to work very well. Is it any safer?

Yes, that’s a good summary. I think I saw the 9-cis-Retinoic Acid isomer (Alitretinoin) as well in one of those Clinical Trials.

Tretinoin, also known as all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), is medication used for the treatment of acne and acute promyelocytic leukemia. For acne, it is applied to the skin as a cream, gel or ointment. For leukemia, it is taken by mouth for up to three months.
Common SIDE EFFECTS when used as a cream are limited to the skin and include skin redness, peeling, and sun sensitivity. WHEN USED BY MOUTH, side effects include, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, headache, NUMBNESS, depression, skin dryness, itchiness, hair loss, vomiting, MUSCLE PAINS, and vision changes. Other severe side effects include high white blood cell counts and BLOOD CLOTS.
Use during PREGNANCY is CONTRAINDICATED due to the RISK OF BIRTH DEFECTS. It is in the retinoid family of medications.

“The companies / government would not have been able to disclose the RETINOIC ACID adjuvant as it would have ruled out the use of the vaccines in about 1/3 of the population. This is because RETINOIC ACID can’t be given to women of childbearing age (and for a rather long list of other conditions it is contraindicated for) It especially can’t EVER be given to pregnant women. RA is as toxic to the human fetus as is Thalidomide. This would surely explain the miscarriages, etc. that are being reported.”
The Judge, with his methodical stare, read the words on the screen; looked at Defense, then Prosecution, slowly shaking his head and pursing his lips (Prosecution knew the ‘tell’ and smiled). The Jury was informed of their duties and we await the verdict.

One can see the path: we were good, compliant children and then good, compliant students. Now we are good, compliant doctors. I’m beginning to understand that goodness is measured in a different way, and obedience is not a virtue.

One could say this about anyone who has higher education and been successful in life….
In fact many do enter the medical profession entirely to please their parents and social expectations.
An Indian friend once explained it as: ‘All children should ideally be doctors; the less bright and mathematically able doctors; and the rest dentists, opticians or accountants.’
These people will not, on the whole, be inclined to rock the boat.
Hence the great betrayal by the medical profession that we have seen.

Obedience to authority is a seems to be well-learned by most of the medical community.
I expect part of the issue, as well, is that most of those working in the medical community are quite busy. They don’t have the time and don’t feel that they have the expertise to question what the authorities are saying.
I can see how a doctor would not generally delve deeply into treatments approved by govts….
However when you know that it takes over a decade to test a vaccine … and there is no real way to reduce that number because the testing involves waiting to see if long term side-effects emerge….
Then surely … these vaccines raise red flags… but then again … if you get paid serious dollars to mass inject… money talks…
The vaccines have not been shown in clinical trials to reduce transmission, hospitalisation or death. The phase 3 trials are not over and the safety data is not complete; the earliest trials will run into 2023.

That sounds a lot like 1 in 10 with adverse reactions. Of course, this could be with respect to a series of 2 or 3 or 4 shots.
One thing Grant Genereux mentioned is that he didn’t think the Adverse Events where the person has a bad reaction in a matter of minutes could be explained by the spike-protein, but those would be easy to explain if the needle hit a blood-vessel and Retinoic Acid got directly into the bloodstream.
